Gas Prices and the Dems

Hahahahaha Romney should make a commercial out of that. Oh how the tide has turned. He would just need to include Obama saying he wants $5.00/gallon gas.

Reminds me of a ranch foreman once talking about a committee of heirs now in charge of the multi-million dollar operation. "Like a bunch of ants on a log floating down the river -- every one of 'em thinks he's driving."

Just to be clear, I really do not think the Pres has much affect on gas prices. maybe a tiny bit but not much.

But what is good for the goose.....

I'm right there with you. We got Rublican Ants on the log and Democratic ants on the log.

Let's not overlook in all this that the United States has vastly increased domestic energy production (I'm not giving Obama credit there) and increased the efficiency of our vehicle fleet (maybe we can give Obama a little credit here). Oil imports are down. I wish somebody would do the encouraging energy talking points. America needs to get some joy out of the things our nation is doing right.

Crock- Agreed. If the govt made an effort to build out the infrastructure of nat gas refueling stations and then swithed the entire govt fleet to nat gas over a 10 year period, the USA could be energy independent in 10 years. Also, create a lot of high paying middle class jobs.

very often these issues seem to get conflated. I don't think there is very much america (particularly the politicians) can do about the price of oil. Even if we manage to pump all of this oil that is supposedlly out there, we are not going to drive down world oil prices. and since we are not going to drive down world oil prices, we are not going to get our domestic oil for cheaper either. Domesitc oil produces will sell their oil when and where it makes them the most money. it is how it does (and should) work.

Being energy independent is something entirely different. it might be possible and I hope we pursue it further. So it would seem to me that the nat gas producers would encourage this by starting some nat gas filling stations. They could make money on both ends of the deal and create a more robust market for this nat gas that is too cheap to even be worth pulling out of the ground.

You would think that every trip to the gas pump would shrink the democrat vote.

It has doubled in price since Obo took office. Taking my motorhome in for fuel has put that fact down in stone.

Jesus Christ, I like home-spun bullshitisms as much as anyone, but who the hell (besides that ranch foreman) thinks that the ants think they are "driving"?

As a person who worked for Exxon in petroleum procurement for many years, I can tell you with reasonable authority that the President (R or D) has little to do with the price of oil. It is way more complicated than that. I am sure that most of you know that in the first place.

Obviously Perham, when we start endowing insects with human characteristics, we're using communications outside the realm of logical discourse. But just like when I hear someone use non-words like "flustrated" or "dramastically" I knew what the ranch foreman meant and thought it was funny as hell.

I find it funny that they quoted the price of a barrel of oil being $100 when the national average price of gas was $3. Now the price of oil is $92, but the national average price of gas is $4.

The price of oil goes down 8%, but the average gasoline retail is now 33% higher than then. Now why is that? Oh, greedy oilmen right?

Great point Deez. It is absolutely ridiculous for others to point out the very low price of oil and gas at the pump at the very start of the Obama administration and completely ignore the reason for it being that low. High gas prices have been here since Katrina/Rita. Americans need to realize that this is going to be the norm from now on. Best thing we can do is adapt using technology, such as purchasing more fuel efficient vehicles, etc.

Pharm- You are not paying attention as usual. When I posted this it wasnt to criticize BO for high gas prices. It was to criticize BO for politicizing high gas prices when he was running and calling them a "failure of leadership" but now arguing they arent his fault when they are actually higher than when he was bad mouthing them.

It is called the textbook definition of hypocrisy. Knd of sums up his admin.

kind of sums up every administration I've ever seen. They are politicians, they say what will get them elected. And THEY are both Republican and Democrat.
