Gary Johnson

I think it's a toss up between him and Dex.

There were a few shots yesterday where I was saying, "No no no, yes!" Gary's getting that mid-range jumper to drop more often now. That's a great development for our troubled offense.

Gary is certainly the horns' most complete offensive player. He can post up players that are a bit bigger than he is and still score well with his polished jump hook and drop step moves. If he is defended by a real big guy, he can go outside and stick the 18 foot jumper. If his big defender tries to take away Gary's outside shot (which is not easy because Gary has a high release point and shoots the ball with a lot of arch), Gary is very good at driving to the hoop and finishing.

The only hole I see in Gary's offensive game is his passing. He's not as prone to get an assist as Connor, Damion, and Dex are.

On D and rebounding, Gary is intense and relentless.

Having said all that, Damion has more upside than Gary and will be drafted higher in the NBA.

he is a bit of a ball hog. i would like to see him drive and kick out to either james or abrams for 3 from time to time. most of the time that he gets it, he puts it up. not necessarily a bad thing as his shot is getting more consistent as a previous poster said.

I'm a bit surprised by the negative comments. Gary is a beast on the boards, is not afraid to attack the basket, and is consistently nailing the mid-range jumper. This is not to mention he is an absolute Lion when it comes to heart. The guy plays the game with amazing passion.

I suppose I could see where people don't think he passes....But I don't think that's his job. When Gary gets the ball he's usually in a position where he should look to score...and score he has done!

As I mentioned in another thread...This team is undergoing a transformation process with the way Johnson and Pittman are playing. By tournament time I think this team will be completely different then what we expected at the beginning of the year.
