Gary Johnson

When will he be back and ready to play. I think it was safe to say that his "mean streak" was SEVERELY missed today on the offensive glass and in the inside game.

No one except a supernatural entity could possibly know when Gary Johnson will be ready to play.

He apparently worked out pregame and participated in a lot of the warmup/shootaround before the KU game, but it was decided the ankle was still too tender to go.

There's no question about his tolerance to pain, but there is a problem if he goes too soon and reinjures it when it's partially healed.

Texas should not only be able to beat Austin Peay without him, but the 7/10 matchup of Miami/St. Mary's could be a whole lot worse, too. If Texas can make it into the second weekend without playing him, then my hope is he'd be ready to go for a Sweet 16 matchup.

But man, I'm going to hate life if Texas somehow manages not to make it to Houston at this point.

me too SLX. This bracket is custom made for us. At least elite8, though Memphis would give us problems in going to final 4. But of the top 4 seeds, this is who I want to face. Can we get there?

I think I'm going to pick Memphis over TX in my bracket. I usually suck at my bracket picks.

It was a blog entry.

Whatever it is, there's still no good way of knowing when he's going to be able to play, although I'd think a muscle strain would be better than an ankle sprain.

Rest up boy, we are going to need you in the tourney. Hopefully we can handle our business against Peay and he will have limited play, so he doesn't strain it in his first game. We are going to need that spark of energy a few games is so get HEALTHY. Also G Johnson has had the most injury plagued season I have ever seen, he is one tough mother to have played so much this season.

i think the first 2 games are set up so that we should not need him. Maybe game 2 if needed.

Once we get to Houston, he is a must have. Stanford will be hard to beat without GJ.

Get healthy Gary!

Barnes had to leave Mooney in on the offensive possession. Connor Atchley quickly got up to come back in the game after Kansas turned it over, but Barnes realized that since an actual play hadn't occurred, he couldn't send Atchley back in the game until the next stoppage.

What was utterly confusing to me was the continued use of zone with the way the Kansas shooters were doing. It's one thing to cling to it in the first half and hope that the shooting cools off in the second, but to continue in the second after seeing that their shooting is not going to cool off is just bad form.

As for Johnson, I was listening to the pregame show on KVET yesterday, and Craig Way talked to Rick Barnes about Gary's injury and his readiness to play in yesterday's game. It sounded like Gary was well enough to play if needed, but Rick said that the NCAA tournament was more important than the conference tournament, and he wasn't going to risk the entire tournament for the sake of that one game.
