Seriously, the guy has good touch but great footwork.
Keeps his feet chopping & throws w/ his weight forward.
Shifty enough to avoid defenders but probably not going to rush for a hundred.
Just enough wiggle to keep the back 7 honest.
Should be a great one. Probably one of the better QB recruits Mack has landed & that's saying quite a bit.
Hope he has a knack for getting strep throat in early October when the pollen is up.
Kid has excellent potential and I am damn glad he is our first commit for 2009. Hopefully he is a real shot in the arm for the beginnings of a great class. GG has a great arm - very accurate, seems to easily scramble out of trouble and pretty decent speed when running. I am also really impressed with his footwork standing in the pocket or rolling out. He seems to throw with his weight on the correct foot regardless of situation - while having the arm strength to throw accuately even if his feet / weight are not the best. Hope he is a team leader kind of player.
Ask Highland Park how good he is...he made some amazing throws on a very cold day in the face of a stiff wind. The Highland Park quarterback was very good, but Gilbert was better.
very good QB especially for a soph. i agree with what yall say. want to add that he keeps his head up and eyes downfield when pressure is in his face and that is a great sign. good pocket presense especially for a 15/16 year old.
I realize that this video is from his sophomore year, but Garrett really needs to improve at using the middle of the field. In that 9:04 video, I counted less than a dozen times that he threw the ball down the middle. He goes to the outside on virtually every play.
