This movie looks incredible. Does anyone know where to find out if it is ever going to be released here in Austin.

I guess I will have to wait until DVD if not...

It was at the Dobie several months back.

I missed it then but bought a Region 2 DVD about that time.

It is a very good movie. Sprawling, somewhat disjointed, and sewn together with documentarian/anthropological touches. The release I have includes a second disc that has various interviews with the writer.

Recommended. NOTE: It is not sensationalistic or 'cool,' so don't expect Tarantino, or even Scorsese, though the latter's work is in the ball park.

Really, it is a film that is probably heavily influenced by Scorsese, who may have had something to do with its American release. That said, it is also clearly influenced by the Italian neo-realist film movement (stuff like I Vitelloni, Shoeshine, Germany Year Zero, and even La Terra Trema). Scorsese himself is deeply indebted to all of that work, so no surprise.

Comcast pay per view had it for a bit more $$ than the normal movies when I watched it like a month? ago. Pretty good.
