Those of you who have relied on them in the past and endured the fiasco that went on last season may want to be proactive this year. That is, if you want them in the future. Basically only 3 - 5% of the fans make use of them and the 5 is being generous.
From what I understand and have been told, the bean counters at Metro won't stand for them basically subsidizing UT, who makes tons of money, and will have to charge a reasonable rate for the service provided. This means that other companies will be bidding on it again, per the law, and some out of town company will likely get it.
If that turns into a nightmare, which it almost surely will, I don't think that Belmont will keep the service. Again, not many people in the big picture ride the shuttles. Numbers were down last year but I blame that on the issues that went on and not good PR when it was fixed.
So everybody may have to fend for themselves in the future which means it gets a bit more crowded on the roads near campus if that is possible.
So if you like the shuttles, think you would ride now when you have not in the past and want to keep them, start voicing your opinions now to the ears that matter. I don't care who drives them as long as it helps our fans and minimizes traffic congestion for everybody.
