When we lived in Atl, we used to go to Jocks and Jills on 14th right off of 75. Great sports bar with good food and a great football atmosphere. Keep in mind, it'll be a huge crowd there tonight with UGA and LSU broadcast at the same time. Call and ask about the UT game before you go though. They used to show UT games in some of the smaller back rooms but were always really good to us when we went. The wife and I would even wear our UT gear into the bar and all we ever got were a few stares and a few "steers and queers" type jabs. Overall a great sports bar. It WILL get loud in there with two SEC teams showing at the same time. Good luck with the game as I can hardly find it televised here in Houston...
I appreciate the response.. that's funny too, I work less than a half a block from 14th and 75. Jock and Jill's has moved almost outside of the perimeter but I think it's all a moot point. I called a couple of bars that I got as leads through the Atlanta Texas Exes but no dice. Then I did some research on the LHN website and it doesn't appear that the channel is even offered in Atlanta.
Yes. Black Bear decided that they no longer wanted to host us.
We will now be at Gordon Bierch in Buckhead. (See Below)
And we will not be meeting this weekend because of the whole LHN debacle. No carrier for the game is in Atlanta.
Hope this helps.
ý2011 Texas Football Game Watching
The Atlanta Texas Exes is pleased to announce our new official game watching location will be Gordon Biersch Buckhead !
Located at the intersection of Peachtree and Piedmont in Buckhead, Gordon Biersch features plenty of seating, multiple TV’, a large menu, and tons of free parking. Where in the restaurant we watch each weekend will vary depending on turnout, ...game time, and weather. Watch our Facebook page for last minute updates!
We will watch all 2011 Texas Football Games at this location. Currently, the opening game against Rice is being broadcast exclusively on the just launched Longhorn Network. Unfortunately, no one in Atlanta carries that network at this time, however it is hoped that DirecTV will make an agreement to carry the channel in time for the Rice game. If that happens, watch for an announcement from us.
