That Nekia Jones,OMG. She came to play tonight.4 - 3 Pointer's within maybe 12 to 14 minutes of playing time. Once she get in game shape it's going to be hard to keep her out of that Starting Lineup.B.Taylor fought real hard for playing time tonight 2 .Imani look much better tonight.I love the development of Texas right now.

Fun to watch all the players come off the bench and score and have fun -- especially Nekia Jones. She was a crowd favorite. Absolutely no hesitation when it comes to shooting 3's. However, she's going to have to drop about 30-40 pounds to be competitive for any length of time against quality opponents. Aston said as much during her post-game comments -- with a grin on her face because she was pleased with the spark Jones provided. We wondered if she is coming off an injury that resulted in her being so out of shape. Very unusual to see at this level. Love her spirit though. BTW it had to be the smallest home crowd ever. If there were a thousand people, I'd be surprised.

Really fun game to watch. Not sure what was going on the first ten minutes, but NWS was really fired up and taking it to the Horns. It was a very physical game, imo.

Still, as several mentioned, the depth of the team is really outstanding. Nekia is coming off an injury (foot, ankle?) that kept her sidelined until the game before last night. Since she plans to compete in track, I am not sure that she will be dropping a drastic amount of weight. What should happen is adding more muscle to replace fat which will help her endurance.

I am wondering why Lilley didn’t play, though. It was the perfect kind of game for her to get into and gain experience.

FT shooting is a concern, at least for me. The percentage has been dropping and now the Horns are under 70% as a team. That needs to be going in the other direction. It was great to see six different players hit a trey, led, of course, by Nekia’s four. Four players were in double figures with Brianna (8pts) and Krystal (7 pts) just missing. A 30 rebound margin was good to see, especially since it was a team effort. No one hit double digit rebounds but only two players did not grab a rebound. Nneka (28 minutes) and Brady (26 minutes) were the leaders in minutes played. Along with Chassidy and Empress (20 minutes each), they were the only ones to hit 20+ minutes. That’s a lot of productive depth coming off the bench. Helen was the only player not to have double digit minutes. I was hoping that 3pter she put up near the end of the game would go in.

Someone said that they thought there were less than a thousand people there. Official attendance is as follows from the stat sheet:
Attendance: 2584
Turnstile – 952

Worse crowd I can remember. I hope the game against Idaho will be better attended, I won’t be here but I gave my tickets to a friend and there will four or five coming in my place to watch the Horns that Sunday. Maybe I should do that more often. Sure hope the $3 tickets help pull in a crowd. Idaho will be a tough game that should give the Horns one last opportunity to prepare for the Big 12.

Merry Christmas, everyone. See you on the board in a week from tomorrow.

FYI, a second replay of the game is tonight at 10:30 pm on the LHN.
