First off, this is horrible...this pre-gayme whatever the **** it is. Enrique Iglesias is making my ears bleed, the theme song is horrible, the baloon soccer matches in circles thing was, well, I don't know. It just sucked.

Please, get the players on the field and the game underway.

i changed to the channel after seeing all that crap. missed the start of the game.

that **** ain't going to help the beautiful game here in the states

That was a fun game to watch and man oh man tons of chances for Spain to put it away in the 2nd half that was so close! I'm really happy that Torres scored the winning goal!

Torres had a really long run of bad luck during the tournament, it was good to see him get that goal, especially after the missed header earlier.

The Spaniards had a few chances to completely blow the doors off the Germans but give Germany credit for at least hanging in there. The better team won this won, Spain really dominated from start to finish except for a few minutes stretch here or there.

Is that Palpatine behind the trophy, over to the left in the photo in the blue and white tie?

I liked the Enrique song actually. Also, that balloon thing reminded me of the opening to the Salt Lake City Olympics.

(It should be noted I saw about 30 seconds of both the balloon thing and the opening of those Olympics.)

I think that the Germans sitting near me knew that I was probably for Spain within 30 seconds of me sitting down. That's because almost as soon as I sat down (about 10-15 minutes into the game), Podolski took a dive and got the call. It was midfield, but I commented to the Bolivian and Brazilian girls I was sitting with-

"See he's a little ***** and he likes to take dives."

That brought wide eyes and broad smiles to my two friends and we were not-so-privately pro-Spain the rest of the game.

I had the Instant Replay conversation with a German at halftime. DeadHeadHorn would have liked him, because he was adamant that Instant Replay should not be used.

Of course Germany has been helped by the lack of replay more than any team other than Italy, but that point probably escaped this loser's thought process.

Vamos Espana!!

Nice write up on SSN:

And while Euro 2008 largely passed him by - prior to the final he had only scored a solitary goal against Sweden while strike partner David Villa had grabbed all the headlines - when it mattered most, he came to the fore as all great players do.

With 33 minutes on the clock in Vienna, Xavi slid one of his trademark slide-rule passes into the inside-right channel and Torres exploded out of the traps.

True, Philip Lahm should have been much stronger in repelling Torres' rapier thrust, but once the baby-faced frontman had nipped in there was no stopping him and his dinked finish over Jens Lehmann was a masterful touch.
