game 7 refs

You are shitting me! David Stern really isn't even trying to be subtle anymore. You would think that he would like to avoid the mere appearance of impropriety by assigning damn near anyone else to officiate Game Seven.

Rest easy corporate sponsors, the predetermined Final between Kobe and LeBron is not in peril.

people who chronically complain about the refs don't understand the game. Sure the refs can make critical calls to influence game results at the end, but when you are down by 20 - 40 , quit your whining!

Make a damn jump shot, quit the TOs... play some D, crash the glass. You know, how about outplaying your opponent?

why the **** is Artest shooting at all?

beencounting,

The NBA has a ref convicted of fixing games and claims that others are also involved.

Stern has never really addressed this adequately.

There are certain phantom calls in significant games (LA vs. Sac, for example) that cause many to consider that this is not a level playing field.

So spare me, "You do not know the game" comments.

Refs do make a difference from time to time.

Maybe they made a difference in this series by allowing one kind of play in H-Town and another in La La Land.

Houston got drubbed repeatedly, including in game 7 where they just shot like ****.

If they want the home court advantage and all that is implied, they should play better in the reg season.

Wee wee wee all the way home.

one known bad ref, possible a handful of others does not mean the officiating is fixed. One bad series from 5 or 7 years ago does not mean anything either.

Overall, the better teams win the series and almost always the individual games. Anyone who disagrees does not know the game and is a massive whiner.

I've been watching the NBA since 1981 (Moses Malone days with Houston) and have very very rarely blamed the refs for the outcome of any game. Your team (my team - Houston) just doesn't have the talent or mental ability to win the game, blame the players/coaches but spare the whining please when it only has a material affect on less than 1% of all games in the history of the sport.

Search "Wade finals phantom foul" on Youtube and ask yourself whether these games are fixed, or whether the NBA pushes for certain teams to win certain games. The Mavs/Heat series was over until the refs got the Heat back into the series.

Kobe vs. Lebron in the finals is going to happen. There is no doubt about it.

The refs will officiate in a manner that guarantees at least six-games between the Cavs and Lakers ($).

You guys miss the point entirely. The point is that Joey Crawford has a lengthy history with the Rockets. Do some research and you'll see why I went and played golf this afternoon instead of wasting my time watching the Rockets. There was not a snow ball's chance in hell of the Rockets winning today, much less keeping it close. They could have shot 60% from the field and turned the ball over only 10-times, and the Lakers were going to the Western Conference Finals. The outcome was pre-determined. Period.

It just sucks, that's all.

Joey Crawford has a history with every team.

But, you are right, the refs will referee such as to guarantee a 6 or 7 game series. I would also bet they will ref such that Lebron wins his first Finals. That would be what is best for the NBA and Stern will likely push for this to happen.

I'm a Rockets fan and you could say the refs helped make this go 7 games for the rating, getting Houston fan's hopes up, etc... An obvious sign is that none of the games were really close, all double digit victories..hmmm...

Yeah, the Refs had no impact on the outcome of game 7, but there is little doubt in my mind that they would have if the game was tightly contested.

At this time, I can’t really believe that there is conspiracy set in place where the Com instructs the Refs to call games one way or another, but I strongly believe that there is a reason the same three or four refs are continually assigned to the big games, and these Refs are certainly aware of the benefits of “7” game series.
