Game 2

1 minute in and Kobe has already bitched about 2 calls. I don't want to start a fire storm but how come everyone complains about duncan whining yet kobe cries more. I understand working the officials and all but kobe thinks he gets fouled every time he shoots.

lakers look much better on the boards early. kobe still struggling with his shot. and the call by delaney on the garnett screen was absolute ********. next year kobe will get fined for a flop like that. should have been a no call

you've got to be kidding. The Lakers are being called for everything in this game. Celts have gone to the line almost 20 friggin times in the first half, Lakers have gone , what 3 times.

It is 19-2 in the FT department. Funny how a thread that was started as a rouse to talk about the game but really to ***** about kobe bitching has been turned on it's head b/c well Kobe has a right to ***** in this game.

LA outrebounded and is shootinga respectable 46%, but is down 12 in large part to the FT discrepancy.

Boston is shooting lights out and especially from the 3 point line and they deserve to be ahead regardless. 15 assists in the 1st half as well.....wonder if those aggy scorekeepers have moved up

Kobe: Wah. Pao did not catch my erratic ****** pass in the paint.

Reality: So?

Kobe: My vagina hurts.

Reality: I am going to set in now. You are a little *****.

The real issue here is not the fact that Kobe is bitching at the refs...he's pouting about EVERYTHING. He's the leader of this team, and frankly, his teammates aren't known for their "intestinal fortitude". You can see them start to meltdown whenever he starts his antics.

The Lakers succeeded this season when Kobe started to exhibit true leadership potential. Now, he's reverting to his old tricks, and the impact is being seen quite plainly on the scoreboard.

I noticed Kobe on the sidelines yelling at the team. It was not just a, "C'mon, let's get it together", rah rah speech of a leader. It was more of a whining baby fit and almost as if to say they were letting him down.

Wah.

I truly hope he never gets another title no matter where he goes or plays, barring a total reversal of who he is and how he acts.

It's watchable again.

Never count out a Doc Rivers coached team!!! Only his true genius can whittle away a 20+ point lead in the 4th!

Do they not call TRAVELLING anymore in the NBA?I just flipped it over to the game and some Eastern European guy just took FOUR steps before laying the ball in.

Not TWO, NOT THREE, BUT FOUR STEPS!!!

What was the line on this game and who did the refs take?

They never called Jordan when he travelled and he could have earned frequent travel miles. A legend, a badass, a superstar and a player I loved. But he travelled and he palmed the ball when he dribbled like many other pros do.

Ref'ing an NBA game must be one of the easiest officiating jobs in the world. Hell, you even get to make money on the side with bets and fixing games.

That was a weird game. I am NOT a Laker fan by any stretch of the imagination but they did get jobbed on some calls tonight. Doesn't bother me because they get the benefit of calls 99.9% of the time.

The FT differential was partly the refs and partly the fact the Lakers SUCKED for 3 quarters. The 4th quarter was unreal. I think the Lakers went 15-20 or something like that. It was amazing. I still cannot believe they did not get the ball to Kobe down 4. You have GOT to get it to him.

Radmanovic, I think it was him, I can't get all these Euro's straight, single-handily got the Lakers blown out and then got them back in. Just a weird 4th quarter.

Sure the Lakers have a right to complain, that is a huge margin. I felt the Celtics were more aggressive and should have taken more FT's but the Lakers definitely were fouled on some shots that were not called.

I agree. And it was the disparity of FT attempts that is the problem. LA easily could have had 10-15 more FT attempts had the refs called many of those. The travel was obvious but it was on a breakaway dunk and it wasn't the travel that gave him the advantage, unlike the Duncan 6 stepper in the conf finals. And it is the NBA and they just don't call it enough to matter here.

LA shot 49% from field and 48% from 3's (10 of 21), and made all of their FT's (10 of 10), yet they lost in large part b/c Boston 28 additional FT's attempts (17 more makes). LA can play better defense but Boston was shooting lights out from perimeter as well...9/14 from 3's. Thus I won't say LA lost b/c they didn't play defense either.

Simply citing the numbers of free throws is meaningless. Boston was blowing by LA defenders almost at will and were fouling often because it was often the only way of preventing layups and dunks.

Citing the number of FTs is not meaningless...especially when 10 FTs is the 4th lowest total in Finals history. And I don't think people are just looking at the box score and deciding the officiating was one-sided...that was obvious just watching the game from the start.

The Lakers came out just as aggressive as Boston, attacking the glass and trying to get to the basket. They couldn't buy a call. I do think they let the refs take them out of their game because of it, which is partly their own fault, but you can't tell me this game was officiated evenly. It wasn't even close.

That said, they were still outplayed in other areas.

First off, I started the thread in the first 3 minutes of the game. The free throw disparity had not yet happened.

Now, there are many reasons why there can be a free throw disparity of that kind. It could be that the celtics were that much more aggressive and drove to the hole while the lakers settled for jumpshots. It could be that the celts play better defense w/o fouling, while the lakers' defense isn't as good and they foul more (something that phil jackson himself has complained about). I'm not saying that either of these 2 reasons were the case last night but I am trying to make the point that just because a team shoots more free throws doesn't mean that the game was fixed or the refs were helping one team.

Now, what I was referring to in my original post was plays like when Kobe went up for a little jumper in the 1st qtr and just lost the ball out of bounds. He yelled and reacted like he'd been hammered on the wrist. Replays showed that no one came within 3 feet of him. Obviously the refs had had enough of his complaining last night because they finally t'd his *** up when he cried about a no call on a made lay up. Once again replays didn't show any foul on the play. I am not a laker hater, I just can't root for Kobe because of his attitude and his arroagance. He has always had this attitude of entitlement that I have never understood. He came into the league with it and he has alienated teammates in the past with it. There's no doubt he's a great player but his attitude on and off the court keeps me from ever rooting for him no matter who he plays for.

the lakers have no chance in this series unless lamar odom bothers to join the party, it's that simple...

Considering the Celtics have sucked on the road in the playoffs, I bet this one goes back to Boston 2-2.

They're still just 2-7 on the road, while the Lakers are 8-0 at home. But even if the Celtics just take one game in LA, the Lakers will have to close out the series with road wins in games 6 and 7, which has never been done.
