Galveston surrounding area seafood

I lived in Galveston from '74 to '78. Back then the best seafood was served at Gaido's. I am meeting several family members in Galveston this June to spread my Dad's ashes and for his remembrance ceremony. Will be staying a few days to chill. Is Gaido's still worth a darn? What does Hornfans suggest for good Gulf Coast seafood in Galveston or adjacent areas?

The last time I was in Galveston was about four years ago and we went to Gaido's and had a fantastic meal. Granted I am only one opinion, and that is the only time I have ever dined there. But for what it is worth, we loved it.

I haven't been since Ike, but I did speak with someone who I trust, and who went a couple of weeks ago, and they said it was better than ever. Outstanding.

Hope that helps.

I think Gaido's is still pretty good. I just wish they still served raw oysters.

I lost my dad a couple of years ago, and he never went to Galveston without going to Gaido's. For me, the memories alone make it worth my trip.

I hit a few places when I was in Galveston last fall. The place that I liked best was Bennos by the sea wall. I also went to the Gaidos. It was good but a little pricey. They had some damned good gumbo there though.
