Gaining respect?

Ron Franklin just made a comment about Texas gaining the respect of the Kansas fans, and maybe I'm just bitter and can't let go of the past, but I will never forget how our program was welcomed into the Big XII. Fact is, we were unwanted, we we were unwelcome and were considered as a program that was unworthy to even be on the same court with these guys. We read it in the papers when we were up there at the tournament, and we heard it fromt he crowds that were there. No matter how good the players were that we sent up to the tournament, there was always an air of "yeah, but you're not a Big 8 school."

My point is, personally I don't buy for one minute that anyone in Kansas has respect for this program, and I really don't care if they do or not. We're Texas.

OK, rant over. Go get the win, Horns!!

The KU fans don't have any respect for Texas BB and I don't care. But, we've been competitive with them and that pisses them off.

I don't have any respect for KU football. They've never been competitive with us in the past and I don't think that changes this fall.

Hook 'em.

An awful lot of people over at Phog.net are talking about how Texas is the only real rival Kansas has in Big 12 basketball.

Considering the state of our basketball program at the formation of the league I understand why it took a while to gain their respect. I don't even think our own fans highly respected the hoops team until a couple years ago.

I'm from a Big 8 school, and to be honest the majority of the former Big 8 fanbases is a dysfunctional asylum.

sCUm fans are horrible, as I hope the majority of you learned from the Darrell Scott thing.

KSUcks fans are an angry bunch of bitter brats who have an enormous jealousy complex towards us. They also act with ZERO decorum. I feel sorry for the citizens of Omaha this week because the purple sissycats are coming.

MU fans are getting just as bad - some friends who went to Columbia this last year for football related their last experiences - and they were eerie reminders of what happened to you guys at tOSU in 2005.

ISU is a little better although they hate us something fierce.

I like KU's basketball program, but I hate their fans who believe they have a sense of entitlement in college ball despite the fact that they haven't won the Dance in 20 years, and have a list of choking longer than the mistakes of the Bush Administration.

And don't even get me started on OU. 2000 game in Norman - paintballs, middle fingers and oranges were hurled as weapons at several family members. They'll never go again.

I'd like to think we have more decorum than our North brethren.

About the only tolerable fanbases in this conference anymore are in the South.
