I just finished reading for the third time Dan Simmon's Hyperion series. I didn't quite understand his use of a standing wavefront to describe consciousness and so Googled it. After concluding that I don't agree with Mr. Simmons I pursued a tangent to my quest, namely Mr. Lafreniere's site.
I highly recommend this site if you want to visually understand what a spherical standing wave is and how Mr. Lafreniere uses simple trigonometric equations to model electrons.
Mr. Lafreniere even goes so far on the first page to describe how he can explain Relativity using his electron model equations that do not require space to be bent or compressed or for time to have to slow down:
