Gables Central Park???

Does anyone currently live there or has anyone lived there?? Me and my roommate are planning on moving in soon, even though it is more than a student should pay for....but I just wanted some tips on what to expect, etc. Or, has it been a good place to live??

I lived there for three years and it was by all means HORRIBLE! Save yourself from them. horrible, horrible customer service. They started making weird rules about the parking ,like times and guests. Absolutley ridiculous. I moved out about 6 months ago and after three years of $1000 plus rent, they are still hounding me for a $20 cleaning fee charge, which they can't take out of my $500 pet deposit for some "odd" reason.

on the bright side, many hotties there when I was there and the parking lot becomes a block party after the bars close on the weekends (not sure if that is a bright side though)

I'll agree with over-priced, but not overrated...as far as living conditions. instead of being a five minute drive to work, or a $6 cab ride downtown, i am 20 minutes to work and I have to drive downtown. but that is the only advantage (except for the beautiful women)

Overpriced...

One of the best places to live is over on Southwest Parkway...beautiful scenery of the Green Belt and not too pricey...

Live there now. I don't have a problem with it. Won't find many places that are nicer.....or more expensive. Quite a few families live here so it isn't too loud. Close drive or bus ride to campus. I don't interact much with the office but maintenance gets taken care of quickly. Assuming they still live here next year you may end up living next to Chris Simms or Kyle Shanahan. That pretty much sums it up. PM me if you have any questions.

Actually they aren't. They lived alone from what I could tell and on separate sides of the complex. But I saw them walking to and from each others place with other players several times since I live in between them. I dunno if they still live here or not, but I haven't seen either one all summer.

I live at Post West Av. downtown it is awesome and i bet it is around the same price as a Gables apt...just something to consider

The daddy's girls that live there are awfully hot, but I would rather live in West Campus for that type of money. My friends lived there, as did I for all intents and purposes with them and they wouldn't move back.

SW Parkway area is just as expensive for some of their apartments. Payed way too much for about a year. Still feel like I was raped.

I lived at Gables last year and loved it. I never had a problem with the managment. Anytime we had a problem someone was there that day to fix it. There are a lot of college kids living there but not enough to make it too loud. I think a lot more kids are living there this year though. I would live there again if it wasn't so expensive. Enjoy!!

And there is convenient access to the Austin State Mental Hospital.

That main building on the hospital campus is pretty cool, I think its the oldest building in state government still being used, I believe it was built in 1857, looks like an old fort in a John Wayne movie. Check it out sometime.
