Future non-conference opponents for Texas?

Watching Duke play against Tennessee tonight in a non-conference matchup made me think about future non-conference games for Texas next season and beyond.

Who would you like to see Texas establish a non-conference series with down the road?

I'd really like to see us match up against North Carolina or Maryland from the East Coast, and Stanford or Cal-Berkeley on the West Coast.

i vote for starting a series with Cal. they've got a lot of talent coming in next year. i think it would be a fun match-up. and Boyle used to be an assistant for Coach G at Duke.

are we starting a series with UConn next year? or is it just one game to promote the 2010 Final Four in SA? i wouldn't mind starting a series up with them. gotta beat the best to be the best!

A trip to the West Coast would be great. Cal or Stanford or even UW, where Coach G can face Coach Tia Jackson's team.

I like the idea of playing Auburn....going against an ex-Horn will be fun!!!

With so many recruits in California, I think it's important for us to play there at least once a year, regardless of the opponent.

Coach G also used to recruit the Washington DC area very hard while at Duke, so that seems like another viable option.

The states of Ohio and Illinois produce great talent, as well, so making a visit to Chicago every now and again could play dividends down the road.

I would love for us to start home/away series with Auburn, Cal, & UConn. I believe our game with UConn might just be a one time deal. Hope not. What I would really like to see though is an overall improvement in the quality in the non-conference schedule. We really need to drop Texas A&M CC & Lamar but more importantly play more games on the road at the beginning of the season. I felt that it really hurt us this year that we did not play enough road games early on.

I would vote for any of these over our lame games against Lamar, Sam Houston, etc. Get the team ready for the big time from day one. Of course, maybe there is a strategy about having a few easy wins to keep the win/loss numbers looking good.

North Carolina would be great also. I believe Moooooo mentioned it in her original post. Can you imagine the great guard match-ups?
