Furniture in Austin -- Beds

Going on the theory that we spend a third of our life in bed, I have decided to make an investment in upgrading my bed. I am always impressed by the beds I have in hotels. I want something very simple, like a black headboard. Something that is contemporary and modern. Where could I find a bed like this in Austin?

Try A Ward Modern, on W. 6th in the Whit Hanks center. Most pieces are custom and you choose the fabric. We purchased a sofa, chair and chaise there and have been extremely pleased with the quality and comfort. I've seen headboards/beds very similar to the one you described. Sorry, no linky. Oh, if you go there ask for Andrew (he's the owner) or Spring.

do you spend that bed-time IN the bed or looking at it? if you're like most normal people, it's in the bed. find yourself a decent but not too extravagant headboard and lay all your cash into the mattress.

crate and barrel has some fine things, but they are stupidly expensive. try world market, although i don't know how many beds they have there.

Thank you very much for your help. I ended up going to Eurway and getting almost the exact same bed I saw at Crate and Barrel, except $1,000 less.

Just as an aside, I have been mattress shopping today. I have yet to encounter a more slimy, manipulative industry. Unbelievable some of the tactics they use.

My uncle is a V.P. for Simmons Mattress Company. I've been getting free beds since I can remember so I usually get a new one every 2 years or so. I can honestly say that the new non-flip mattress is badass. Of course I don't have to shell out the coin for it either, but damn it's comfortable.
