What are some good furniture stores in houstonto get good qulity stuff? Not looking fo IKEA junk.

Star Furniture. Very good quality. Anyone else is a distant second - this group includes, Fingers, Bell, Gallery Furniture, etc. At least IMO.

We went with Bassett. Really good stuff. Solid wood and built well.

I will second Star Furniture. We bought a 4 piece set for our home and will buy from them again. Be sure to check out the Star Furniture Outlet Center on 45 North near Gallery Furniture.

While we are on the subject, I personally cannot figure out how Mattress Mac makes so much $$. Everytime we are in the market for furniture we check Gallery out and always come away unimpressed. The sales people are pushy and the prices are escallated quite a bit. I cannot see us buying one piece of furniture from there.

Star would be my 1st choice too.

Gallery/Matress Mac has really changed over the last few years. They used to be a good bit cheaper and carry a lot of close out stuff and made their money on financing charges to less credit worth folks. They got pretty pissy about my wife and I paying cash for some Lexington close out stuff we bought there 10-12 years ago. Then everyone started having 0% financing and Gallery could no longer use that model. At this point I think Gallery is living off of past rep and same day delivery.
