My service fees went up? You banks are all the same with your hidden fees and your service charges. Well maybe I'll just take my blood elsewhere! From now on I'm keeping my blood in my freezer, with MY MONEY!
Everyone always advises people to use credit unions, and UFCU was the first bank I had money in went I moved out of my parents house and holy **** is it a terrible bank. The number of ATMs available around campus is the only reason to bank there while in college - after graduation I would recommend somewhere else.
Wells Fargo took 3 months to deny me on a car loan when I had twice the amount of money in their checking account than the car cost. UFCU gave me a low interest car loan within 5 minutes of applying.
Wells Fargo also told me there was a 7 day hold on a check I got from a Title Company and I needed the proceeds for a down payment on another closing.
They have been more than accommodating with my banking there, and I don't even keep much in savings with them.
I had a wrong charge on my debit card -- they fixed it in 5 minutes. I was charged to cancel a check once. I was docked $25 bucks and the charge is listed on their site. However, there wasn't any mention of the charge when I put the stop on the check online, so I went in and talked to them. After a couple of minutes they refunded my money.
Heck, I went in there once asking where I could get tax forms and they printed up a listing of all the libraries in Austin for me.
I love UFCU- they get my car loans and mortgage business.
I bank with Wells Fargo because the customer service is so bad and the administration is so haphazard that I collect 200-300$ in "customer satisfaction credits" each year, because I know how to complain properly.
I bank with Wells Fargo because they hold my house note. I get an account I would never pay for with benefits I seldom need if ever. They bend over backwards for me and I have only had to threaten to take my mortgage elsewhere once. I get amazing service from them and I know that their service generally sucks so I feel I am getting over.
I think UFCU means well and used to do better. They may be too big for their britches now and think their bite is worse than it is.
When I was in law school, UFCU closed my checking account on their own accord and transferred all my money into my savings account. They then bounced about eight checks, including my rent check. I found out when I got an eviction notice.
However, UFCU was very reactive once I wrote a letter with the words "wrongful dishonor." I was completely satisfied with their response.
What's with all the Wells Fargo hate? I've had a checking and savings account with them for almost 10 years and have never had a problem. I went in on Friday to do a fairly sizeable wire transfer, and it went through immediately with no hang-ups. I never knew that WF had such a bad rep for customer service.
United heritage is they way to go. They pay 6.01% on checking. We actually use it as our savings and it is awesome. They pay out monthly and it is pretty awesome. We have had the account for 3 months and have made about $350 bucks in interest.
