Clemson AD Graham Neff: Unequal distribution of ACC revenue a 'need'

Both very interesting. My gut tells me they know they are in a bad way but they think they can extort money from ACC easier than joining SEC or buying the ACC contract out. But who knows? I follow both schools but I don't think they add much to the SEC (now) if SEC goes to 3 permanent adversaries and every other year play every other team unless they play ten conference games. Not likely because it eliminates aggie v Prairie view and Texas and others v ND and Big Ten or Big 12 teams.

FSU & Clemson have been unhappy for a long time, but when Swofford expanded with all basketball schools, they wasted no time getting their applications on Bowelsby's desk. It was so serious that Fred Smith (CEO of FedEx & father of Memphis starting QB) offered to pay FSU's ACC exit fee if they would take Memphis along. Same for Poppa John & Clemson. Yet another colossal Bowelsby/NeinASS fuckup.

If indeed, the SEC tells South Carolina & Florida, "you will play nice", don't be surprised if they invite Tech & oSu to round out the number.

If the Big XII was smart…….they’re not……they would go after Clemson and FSU. They panicked bought a bunch of second tier schools, so limited options remaining. If the ACC pleases Clemson and FSU with more revenue, the others will cry.

If they left can you imagine what would happen to Notre Dame? They would have to fish or cut bait.

They would probably look to the B1G for all but football. That is the rub, it is time that if ND wants to participate in the National Football Championship playoffs they have to play in a conference.

I could be wrong, but yeah I don’t see ND putting much of a schedule together with everyone else in mega conferences. Competition will be brutal enough within each conference….no incentive to play ND.

I had not really thought about it but I think you are right If SEC goes to 9 games and BIG does something similar ND doesn't have a lot of options. They don't play FSU and Clemson often but if they left, yikes. ND' traditional rivals are mostly in the BIG but with only Navy, Stanford and maybe BC left to schedule at will, could be ugly. I really hate realignment. Truthfully I'd rather play ND rather than Clemson or FSU.

I imagine FSU and Clemson are looking for SEC or Big 10 invites - not a Big 12 invite. Once free from the ACC, I bet they get two (one for sure being from the Big 12) or all three invites. That means no Big 12 membership.

The BigTen has no interest in FSU & Clemson. Delaney tried multiple times to grab UNC & UVA, but Swofford knew that meant his time as dictator in the ACC was over, so he claimed UNC "could" not (rather than "would" not) go without Duke.

Of course this was during the old Delaney BigTen TV contract that was tied to number of TVs rather than watchers.
