Front Door Replacement

It's time to chuck the steel front door and sidelights and I'm considering a fiberglass replacement. Due to a western exposure, the door vendors don't recommend using wood because it will require far too much maintenance which I'm trying to avoid. Then I ran across stained ThermaTru fiberglass doors and was amazed at how much they look like real wood, even up close. Never mind that they cost as much or more than a wood door. So, my question is whether anyone has experience with exterior fiberglass doors. I'd especially be interested to know how well the finish held up since they still need to be stained and clearcoated like wood.
