Just wrapped up the final few episodes of Friday Night Lights. Thanks Netflix for staying so far ahead of the crowd.

Possible spoiler alerts if you are still watching it.

Kind of mixed emotions I guess. Mostly sad that it is over. I do not get into modern TV series like we are used to these days, never have. The only reason I started watching this one was because I accidently stumbled across it one day a few years ago while channel surfing. Liked it so I figured I should start from the beginning by getting the DVD’s of past seasons. Found myself then anxiously awaiting each new seasons release and would watch them all at once. Now it feels almost as if a chapter of my own personal life has closed. Loved the show though. Absolutely loved it. The conceptual idea of it, the stories it told, and how the intent of it all came across so damn well in the long run. Loved seeing all of the Austin spots that I pass by on a daily basis (although it made my skin crawl when they used UT and DKR as the fictitous setting for Oklahoma Tech). Loved the fact that they decided to end it and go out on top instead of trying to stretch it out too far. Loved the fact that you did not get to see the end of the final play of the final game, but you still know how it turned out. And strangely enough, I thought it was a brilliant move that they ended it in the final few minutes showing all of us the characters starting new beginnings and chapters in their lives. Nobody rode off into the sunset. Combine that with the fact that only a few major questions to the old stories were answered, leaving many loose ends unanswered, leads to hopes of some sort of future production. Maybe I am contradicting myself by saying that, but it would be great to have a two hour made-for-theatre movie to see how it all turned out. In a day where there is so much unbearable crap tv bombarding us, this was such a wonderful diversion. I am gonna really miss it.
