French Toast with Peanut Butter

Delicious. I prefer the crunchy peanut butter, but creamy works well if that's not your thing. When I really want to eat bad, I put regular butter too. And of course, good syrup and powdered sugar. Great on a Saturday morning.

I'm not sure where my mom got the idea. When I was a kid and would have a friend spend the night, all it would take is one taste of it and they would never go back to eating it any other way.

Just a PSA for my Hornfans bretheren. You won't be disappointed.
 
Damn, that brings back memories! I used to eat that quite a bit when my metabolism was about 1000x faster than it is now. One of the most wonderful breakfasts ever.
 
Always had the waffles and pancakes with peanut butter

...never french toast though.

on a related note:

On a recent Iron Chef America, one of the chefs gave the french toast treatment to a slice of homemade carrot cake. dipped in egg and cooked in butter.

then, they did a runnier, pourable version of the cream cheese icing from carrot cake and drizzled it on top.

f'ing genius. i'm going to do that very soon.
 
They have carrot cake french toast at one of those annoyingly trendy South Congress restaurants. I think I remember Giada eating that on her Austin show a few weeks ago.

This thread is worthless without pics of Giada.
 
Our kids like pb on both waffles and French toast. They claim it's even better when we melt the pb and drizzle it on top of the syrup. Of course, not one of them has an ounce of fat on their body.
 
now that i think about it, it as giada eating that at SC cafe that I was seeing. it wasn't someone on iron chef america (which was doing breakfast that week, by the way).
