when might our highly paid staff try and help the boys with these very basic basketball skills?

I have coached basketball in the past for several years - and my experience has usually been that the kid either can or can't. Layups are stupid mental mistakes. All I would want to see from this game is maturation and growth. Seemed like we rushed everything this game and never really got into our offensive sets. Coach Barnes couldn't find a rotation that worked.

every single year, this is the achilles heel for the program.

if you're a fan, you should be used to this.

how many times are you going to drive into all the big bodies to draw contact only to miss the foul shot. they never once tried to get hte outside players involved in the game to alievate the congestion in the paint. this is barnes fault!

I just hope this team can win enough games to secure a high enough seed in the NCAA tourney and land in the Houston regional. Playing the way they have the past few games, they will easily lose 5-6 games. But it's still early, and I'm optimistic.

Most of the missed layups were when they were close enough to dunk. Pittman was pathetic tonight as was ball-hog James. Hey, but every team has a couple of oh-sh-t games every year.

Out-rebounded by 10, 34% from the field, 41% from the line and damn near 20 turnovers. The guys laid an egg again tonight and they better play a helluva lot better than this in Storrs or we may be out of the Top 10 next week.

Use the backboard. Always fingertip rolls and miss. K-State had nothing to do with missing layups and free throws.

not only missing free throws and layups...but where was our ONLY playmaker (Balbay) for the game in the last 5 mins.????

Wondering if they were tired tonight. They played like crap on Saturday, but still that game took something out of them. James was saying how tired he was after the game. It takes a lot more energy to fight back from a 10 point deficit and they had to do it 2 games in a row. Add in Balbay's cramping up and it doomed us. Still gotta make the friggin free throws. I can't for the life of me figure out why guards can't make FTs.

Texas needs to learn to use the glass when taking shots. This team must improve at the free throw line or they will not go very far into March playing. Big 12 has several good teams, Texas is going to lose some games, hopefully not too many. Anyone who thought Texas would go undefeated is in another world. Going to be tough to go to Conn. and win playing like this.

They've looked tired to me the last two games. Maybe Barnes is working them too hard in practice and they've lost their legs

LOL to OP. Man that was exactly what I was mumbling after the game last night. Team missed at least 11 FTs and a few ones down the stretch. at least 2 key layups down the stretch as well. Then they turned the ball over I think 18 times.

Those are mental errors and show a lack of fundamentals. Great news there is that these things can be fixed. Team was primed for a loss going on the road with just 1 day rest in a hostile environment and after playing a tough OT game on Saturday. I think most saw this coming. Pittman and James had poor games and thus we got beat inside the paint.

I would like to see Barnes settle down a bit on his subs. Sure some guys got into early foul trouble, but by subing so much are guys aren't getting used to playing as specific units. Also, I haven't seen the defensive intensity the last 2 weeks that I saw earlier in the season. By subing so much you would think they were trying to keep fresh legs in there to press full court and play tenacious D. However the team isn't playing the same level of D they did early in the season so I think they are just tired. These young freshman are showing that now.

As deep as a roster as Barnes has at his disposal, there is really no excuse for our players looking dead legged. Still, a hard fought game at home on Saturday and then a road game on the following Monday is as rough a schedule as the Big 12 can offer. No need for doom and gloom. There is a reason the 1976 Indiana Hoosiers are the last team to go undefeated. It is not easy! Texas never shoots free throws well, but many teams have that same problem these days. Texas will be fine, but we may not be the best team in the Big 12, much less the country. I for one am sort of glad to get the bullseye off our chests. Let's hope the Wildcats can beat Kansas as well.

I don't think the entire team is gassed; I think Pittman and James were gassed and that is all it takes. The rest of the team is not enough to overcome an off night by those two players. James was quoted as saying he was exhausted after the A&M game. He carried us completely in that game. Pittman is still big and can only play hard in stretches. Last nights game was intense and I just think he couldn't keep up. Hopefully, he fight through it.

There's no need to insult KSU by calling them a pissant junior college. They have a pretty good team, and should be given the status they have earned-they are a pissant four-year college.

I'm not as worried about the layups as the free throws. I don't expect missed layups to be an ongoing problem. Free throws on the other hand...

This sucks - I'm already worried about the missed FTs in March.
