My girlfriend booked a place down there for my birthday weekend, and was wondering what are some good wineries to go to in that area that have good wine tasting?

Any other restuarant recommendations?

Becker's for wine...there are several others, but I think that is the biggest. I've been twice and it's a good time.

Rose Hill Manor, about 15 miles outside of town in Stonewall. Somewhat formal, very romantic, great 5 course fixed price dinner for $39 with wine pairings for an extra $30. Had a pre-Christmas family dinner there and everyone from teens to old folks enjoyed it. Definitely worth the short drive out of town into the Hill Country.

Fredericksburg Brewing Co. is good for lunch.
I love that town. When the ******* are shopping, you can walk around with a beer in hand anywhere on Main St.

I'll second the Fredericksburg Brewing Co. - pretty decent pubgrub, and their selection of several brews is good too.

Comfort Cellars Winery in Comfort is a good one. About 20 miles away.
