Frankfurt

Yikes, thanks for the input on my other thread on Munich. I'm going to be in Frankfurt the following weekend for a few days. I'll be staying at the Westin Grand Frankfurt. Any recommendations on must places to eat in the area, areas/sites to see? Concerning the airport, I just read the thread on arrivals and connecting through Frankfurt. Anyone have any idea what departures are like? My flight departs in the morning, just trying to figure out if I need to be there more then 2 hours in advance. Thanks again!

I never had problems in Frankfurt. Always seemed to be pretty smooth so 2 hours should be enough. As far as things to do? I am not sure, never spent much time there although it seemed like there wasn't a whole lot to do there.

There was a thread on Frankfurt last summer, I believe; in it I posted a link to a NYT travel story in which the author actually found enough to do to make for an enjoyable 48 hours in the city. I also found enough to do for a tolerable 24 hours in Frankfurt. But the consensus was that it's a relatively boring city. It's got a few museums and an old town, but it doesn't have much of a vibrant "scene" or any must-sees.

Think of a more European Houston with a finance instead of oil industry. It is a big town so you can find something to do but nothing extremely noteworthy.

Is the Technoclub at Dorian Grey still in the Airport? It was at one time one of the premier electronic venues on the planet and was in an airport.
