Frankfurt/Paris

Planning to visit family in Frankfurt for about 2 weeks this summer. While we're there we'll probably take the train to Paris. Any suggestions for Frankfurt, or not obvious suggestions for Paris?

Can't remember the exact spelling but the Sachsenhausen district in Frankfurt has some good nightlife... go to the apple wine bars.

Short train rides from Frankfurt will take you to places like Mainz or along the Rhine where you can catch a riverboat from town to town. Rudesheim is pretty touristy in the summer but there are other towns like Bacharach, Bingen, plenty of castles, etc.

Don't judge all of Germany by Frankfurt. If you get a chance Stuttgart and Munich/Alps are worth a vist.

Agreed with Viper, do not judge the rest of Germany based on Frankfurt. Go to Munich. I lived there for almost a year and give you any recs if you need them.

One of the best vacations that I ever had was in Germany. We rented a BMW 7 series and drove it from Dusseldorf down to Munich. There were lots of great places to stop along the middle Rhine. Munich was great. Lots of bier halls and it was a fun trip up to the Alps too. Winding out the BMW on the autobahn was pretty fun.

I was only in Paris one night on a flight layover. I went to the Champs Ellesys and had dinner at a sidewalk cafe near the Arch de Triumph. Paris is a very scenic city and I wished that I had more time to see it. I did step into a McDonalds there just once to see "Royale with Cheese" on the menu.

Re Paris: How much time do you have, what do you enjoy, and have you been there before? If you have never been there before, stick to the obvious. I have spent months there, and still return to some of the obvious when we go back.
