I felt he ran the ball well tonight.. One thing i must say early on here. Not trying to put a jinx down but none of our backs are putting the ball on the turf...

Agree that he looked good. Not sure why we abandoned the run in the 3rd though?

Fozzy is our best running back based on what I saw tonight. Vondrell doesn't hit the hole quick enough and lets the defense swarm him to prevent the big play. Cody Johnson is a pile mover.

Offense looked very predictable tonight. I'm hoping that GD will open up the playbook more in the games that really count. The second half TD pass to Shipley on the fake jail break screen was an awesome call. I was hoping Fozzie would get more touches, but I sure liked what I saw.

Fozzy looked to have Jamaal style quickness and acceleration but with a little more power to break tackles and run up the gut. I like him.

Vondrell looked that way in his HS films; I wonder if putting on size and strength slowed him down.

Offense in the 3rd quarter became very predictable and that is when they started to struggle. No trick plays really except a few plays from the Q package that didn't really throw in any wrinkles. OL did not look as dominant though they were missing a starter. I don't look them doing that fancy zone blocking (sorry don't know the correct terminology) and wish they would just go and run some dudes over and create holes for these backs.

Colt was rolling out of the pocket too early IMO. Much like last year at the slightest hint of pressure he would flee the pocket and it never ended up well for him last night.

Even though we ran more than passed the ball last night, many of those runs were late in the game to drain the clock. Too many passes in the 3rd quarter when we really needed to be establishing the run and keeping UTEP off the field. I would like to see more of Cody Johnson.

Very conservative game plan and it showed.

Fozzy looked awesome and I really want to see him catch some balls in open field. He is so small he gets lost behind that big OL but that works in draws better when the defense is expecting a pass. I think coaches will mix it up better next week though.

Wokka wokka!

I like Fozzy, too. I thought he looked eerily like Jamaal on a couple of his runs last night. I think he could be a homerun hitter for us at some point.

Can I say Freshman again. He looked really good tonight given the circumstances. If he improves steadily throughout this year and beyond, he will be a real stud.

He hits the hole very well, shifts into high gear and gets into open field quickly. After a few years of experience and weight training he should be outstanding.

As far as the offense being predictable, it really didn't need to be all that exotic. UTEP blitzes just about every down and they were man to man on the recievers. While I would have liked to see them run the ball better, they didn't do that bad. Fozzy was averaging about 6 yards a pop which was enough to keep the defense honest. Plus, Colt had recievers open just about every play so why run? The first drive in the 2nd half, the horns moved it well. On the fade route, Buckner didn't fight off the corner well enough and allowed him the position to make the int. We score and it probably would probably have gone into the 60's. One more thing, Greg Davis did throw in a wrinkle in faking the bubble screen on the TD pass to Shipley.
