Fozzy practicing, but not ready to play

Davis said tailback Fozzy Whittaker has been practicing, but the freshman running back still isn't ready for games. Whittaker was in uniform Saturday against Arkansas, but his right knee injury has prevented him from playing the past two weeks. Whittaker had looked like the Longhorns' best breakaway threat prior to getting injured.

Hope he's ready for OU.

can you please post a link?
That was the Fozzy info. It's the AAS link with all the comments no one wants to see. I'll try to post a sanitized Bevo Beat and then you can find it.

Well not ready for games sounds like he means for a while, but I have a feeling Fozzy will find a way to play in the RRS. Even so, I wouldn't expect to see him out there on the first couple drives.

Puddle, you know it's all a setup right? We're keeping Fozzy out until we can unveil our secret plan.

Four wides, one back in the backfield, hurry up, throw 40 times in the game, run the rest after we get a 3 touchdown lead.

I just heard on ESPN Austin that Greg Davis said yesterday that he is practicing and if there is now more "tweaking" of the knee he should be good to go Saturday and will play.

??????????

If your O-Line does its job I think Cody Johnson is your best back. He has some serious acceleration if he has 2-3 steps to get going.

"I don't understand how a guy can be healthy enough to practice but not healthy enough to play. Anyone? "

In practise the injured player can put on a special, different colored jersy that lets everybody know not to hit him. This keeps him from getting reinjured. In a game, of course, he is much more vulnerable to injury.

I don't know if Cody is better than Fozzy (Fozzy is pretty spectacular when he actually gets on the field) but he seems to be a pretty general purpose back. He is a smart guy who seems to have figured out zone running quickly. He has a lot of power and almost always get yardage after contact. He isn't afraid of contact and actually likes running over people (which makes hm dangerous after he catches a pass since he does not waste time trying to avoid DBs but simply runs over them).

Right now Cody is working hard on his blocking. He is not bad but there room for improvement. A short, powerful, 245 pound guy has an advantage blocking DEs compared to lighter backs.
