Has anyone done this?

It's expensive as **** but I love Thailand and I have always wanted to do a safari type holiday. The package I'm looking at has 3 days at the Golden Triangle tented camp and 3 days at 4 Seasons Cheng Mai.

Golden triangle has 15 tents - check the pics

This seems like a trip of a lifetime.

I love 4 seasons resorts.

I have read really good reviews of that Four Seasons deal.

Chiang Mai is beautiful and a nice change of pace from a Bangkok. The elephant camps are really cool. Riding the elephants through the jungle, across rivers, etc. is a great experience. And, there is some really good golf in the Chiang Mai area and some pretty good places to drink/party along the riverfront.

yeah i will do a safari in africa someday but it's too far away for now and thailand is 3 hours by plane.

The elephants they have are ones rescued from bangkok streets where they are mistreated. Supposedly it's an unbelievable experience - they have elephant trainers that show you how they spend their day and you get to do everything they do to.

I was looking into safaris and unfortunately unless you spend a shitload like on this a safari is ten land rovers chasing one lion.

I wanted to do goldent triangle first then chiang mai but no availability so its reverse order but thats cool too.

look for an Eco Tour in S.A. at place like Kruger (or another Game Park) and you will likely find yourself with four other folks at most in truck and get as close to Lions as you will ever want to get. We had straight up wild beasts a scant 5 yards from out open air trucks. good ****.
