I'm taking the wife for Labor Day. We're staying at the Westin Diplomat in Hollywood. Let me know about must sees, restaurants, activities etc. Thanks.

The first "must" (Joe's Stone Crab") is closed until October 15.

Shooters in FLL is on the Intercoastal and great for lunch. While the "waterside" tables are very appealing, avoid unless you want a huge order of exhaust funes with your meal. Plenty of boats tieing up around your table.

Pier 66 (on 17th) restaurant at the marina is another good lunch spot.

Also on 17th (turn right off 1 and then on left a couple of blocks), is a good restaurant at a marina. I believe it is Bimini Boat Yard.

When you turn onto 17th off 1 in FLL, take the first left and there is a hole in the wall (about 300-400 sq ft) on the side of the center to your right. I've eaten there numerous times and still don't know the name. Excellent food in a less elegant setting.

If you are a fan of "Caddie Shack", go to Rolling Hills CC on Univeristy South off 595. That's where they filmed the movie (also where the Dolphins trained for years). They have plenty of Caddie Shack things for sale.

Of course, there is the infamous South Beach. Go at your own risk. It's worse than Commerce Street on OU Weekend in the 60s. It'll take you hours to get the several blocks through there but a very eclectic crowd.

BTW, if you are a member of one of Robert Dedman's CCA clubs, the club in downtown Miami has extraordinary views, but typical CCA food.

There is a program right now called Miami spice. Top restaurants offer 3 course meals for like 35 bucks. Its a great deal, and worth looking into.

There are many fine restaurants in FL. Las Olas Cafe is excellent, as were several other restaurants we found in the area in June. 922 East Las Olas Boulevard.
