Former Aggie charged with Murder part 2....

Such a tragic thing. I can’t even imagine dealing with a loss like that.

Also, I guess it's "newsworthy" (whatever that even means) that the criminal was a former A&M player but I wish that could somehow be left out of the story altogether. What he did had nothing to do with that university and I hate to see any kind of unnecessary connection like that being made. Just an opinion.

This is about a crazy man. In Texas, we use jails and prison instead of mental heatlh programs cause mental health treatment is really expensive. Texas will do something about its crazy people problem when it becomes a priority. Right now, we talk a little about "mental health" when people talk gun control. "What's the use of controlling guns when what we really have is a mental health issue?" Then we do nothing about mental health until after violent crimes occur, then we have options of jail, prison or confinement to a mental health facility. Lot's of mental health problems are just tragedies on a smaller scale with less publicity. Worthy of note that more mentally ill people are shot to death than people are shot by the mentally ill. Cops are typically not trained or skilled in dealing with lunatics, unless you count their marksmanship.

I respectfully disagree with MudHorn.

This guy showed clear signs of mental illness while at A&M. There were rumors of him believing that a teammate was Satan. No one intervened.

If A&M wants to take credit for everything good that happens in the "SEC! SEC! SEC!", they can take responsibility for problems that happen in their own backyard.

None of this is true. The coaching staff encouraged him to seek help and was in constant contact with his family as well.

But feel free to make this into a rivalry thing if it suits your interest.

Sorry Joe, as soon as the guy started showing signs of issues the school should have notified the parents and basically told them to either commit the kid to a doctor's care or the school would begin the process of having the State commit the kid (he was under 21) for his own protection. "We did all we could" was not an excuse in this case.

agree to disagree with you. were that the case the family would have done that prior to him arriving to campus. his issues really didnt present themselves as harmful until he went missing following the alabama game, after which time he went home with his family.

any other school would have handled it the exact same way.

You may be right, or you may not be right. I hate it when people throw out their opinion as being a certified fact.
