Formatting a 2gb SD card

So I have a 2GB SD card that I use for my camera. It is Kinsington brand. The problem is the largest I can format it is to ~900mb. Anyone have Ideas? At the least is there any way to partition it, so 900mb I can use for the camera, and the rest for general file storage?

You don't need to format it. Just create a folder on the card for your files. There should already be a folder for pictures on it.

some older SD card readers' firmware doesn't support cards over 1gb... if that's what he's using, then it probably changed the partition header to show the card as 1gb

you probably need to buy a new card reader and try to format it again (just don't do a 'quick format'), or pop it into a digital camera or other device that will let you do a "low level" format
