I can't stand McCain, he is a liar and a globalist masquerading as a conservative. If he makes it through, there will be an open border policy.

Damn, stabone! That was a good post.

P.S. I don't agree with all of it but ...

The R's were pro-free market here not so long ago.

R's may have been but conservatives are not. Also, McCain knows nothing about economics, he has said so himself. What I mean by globalist is that he is for free open borders....between Canada, Mexico and US I mean...One of his chief advisors is Dr. Juan Hernandez for God's sake. He was a Mexican cabinet official under Vincente Fox. He is an open border zealot...as in making all illegals US citizens including felons...did you actually read the immigration bill McCain tried to pass? And then how he tried to twist it against people by calling those opposing it racist? Come on dude...

McCain is definitely not for free and open borders. If you want to discuss his positions you need to drop the hyperbole.

Populist paleoconservatives are a breed to themselves (see Lou Dobbs). They have little intellectual integrity, but fire up their packs of followers.

McCain is going to take some HUGE hits is the next week as so-called "true" conservatives unload their salvo on him in a circular firing squad.

Don't be surprised if the Manchurian Candidate tag is revived.

They have always just believed that they didn't need moderates or independents to win.

Stabone- I agree with more or less everything you say except for the part about letting the market decide on immigration.

I'm actually pro amnesty (provided we actually enforce our laws on a going forward basis- I'd love to see a fence and amnesty for everyone here right now- you can't get rid of them) and pro immigration in general.

The problem is, I don't think you can say- someone wants to hire them so the market has spoken, b/c you are not factoring in costs of social services and the like into that. If you factor that in and make that a cost of employment I'm fine with saying let the market take care of it. So far I haven't seen that happen.
