Their first recruiting class was pretty darn good considering:

Great job to Larry Coker and his staff for "UT Lite".

I think for a couple of years it mostly just hurts Texas State, but it will hurt aggie starting about 5 years from now....

Count me as another Horn fan who wants to see our San Antonio branch develop into a really good program. Coker's the right man for a startup job at UTSA, and for a school just getting their feet on the ground so-to-speak, they pulled in a very good recruiting class. Hook 'em, Roadrunners!

If they commit the $$$ they could be better than Baylor and Tech by the next decade. Their biggest hurdle will be trying to move from FCS to FBS. But they have the student numbers, and the entire city of San Antonio (~1.5million people?). Don't be surprised if they take away Tshirt fans from UT, and become the college cowboys of South Texas.

I think this may be an example where developing an athletic program lends legitimacy to the academic school, and the overall university gets on a fast forward momentum. I hope the best for them. Might hurt UTEP in addition to TXSt.

I agree that this might hurt Texas State. I had several h.s. classmates from S.A. go to SWT instead of Texas or A&M because ATX and BCS were "too far away." I even had a friend of mine transfer from UT to SWT because he was homesick, and that extra 30 minute drive from Austin was just a little too much.
