For Ticket Listeners

Anyone who's up here in the North Texas area that listens to the ticket...are y'all having a really difficult time this time of year? I mean, when you have a radio station polluted with Sooners and Ags you're going to get an anti-Texas slant, but with Texas' suckass season it's almost unlistenable (yes, I know this isn't a word, so you grammar and spelling police dicks can suck it).

I think it's ironic that Reiner, despite not having attended aggy, hates UT so much, seeing as how he seems to love California's version of UT (USC). Corby is the biggest Sooner homer there is out there, and with him being a glorified afternoon yuck monkey it's just pitiful listening to him banter on pointlessly about OU. Craig, though very knowledgeable and someone I enjoy listening to, is letting his OU homerness shine brilliantly these days.

I've just about had it. Some days I long to be in Austin and listen to more friendly voices. Oh well. **** 'EM and Hook 'Em Horns! Beat the hell outta aggy!

yeah i live here, been listening since the station started. you couldnt be more off base, at least in my opinion

i rely on corby to get the real perspective on the sooners cause he's completely honest about the good and bad. he knows texas really well too

miller is fine too - he just happens to like OU. sure he openly roots for them, but what is he supposed to do, he grew up a fan

and reiner is just reiner, thats just his thing

Its only because they are sooner fans that it bugs you. they dont get on these biased rants, its good discussion around college football. and at least reiner admits who he roots against

i have absolutely no problem with it. corby predicted this year he had no idea who would win the TX/OU game, he kept saying OU was a glass house waiting to be exposed, and he said there is no way OU will beat both Baylor and OSU to finish the year. a homer doesnt do that

sure, he loves OU and they give time on the show to it - but calling him a homer is way off base. hes a die hard fan, but an honest one

and you cant be a fan if you dont have a litte bias - if you ask a UT fan the best RB they have seen its Ricky, ask an OU fan its Peterson. thats just the way it goes

i have lived in Dallas since I graduated way back when - but then i worked at Dell for about 6 months in 2004, and now back in Dallas. It was absolutley killing me to not have the Ticket on my drive to and from work. I always knew it was a great station, but thats what really made me appreciate how lucky DFW is to have a station like that

I didn't say the station isn't great. I love it. Have been listening for many years. My point is that at this time of year, and especially with the way this season has gone for the Horns, it's more difficult to get over the anti-UT sentiment, which you all agree is present. The Snake and Craig may be fair, but they're homers. C'mon! Did you listen to White Elephant Day two years ago with they were on the air together? Geezy Peezy...it took 30 seconds and the entire 3 hours became an OU jizz-jar session.

Yes, Rhynes is a douchebag. Thanks for being so honest in your assessment. He's an irritating, UT hating, douchebag.

Ease up gentlemen. I like the Little Ticket. I'm just struggling with the way things have gone this year and I'm not enjoying being reminded of it everyday by Sooners and Ags ridiculing the Horns (not that we don't deserve the ridicule).

Rhyner is a no talent douche who hates on Texas just for the reaction. He doesn't know enough about college football to comment much about UT anyway. He's been loving on USC because his daughter was there.

Junior is biased, he's just more sneaky about it. Listen to around the NFL and he will be all over Bradford's jock (in a loss) then make a passing, probably negative comment about Colt (who won). He's such a Sooner that he loves the thugs and always wants the Cowboys or whoever to get these troubled but skilled athletes at all costs. He also doesn't care about cheating, whether it be steroids in baseball or any other kind of cheating. He loves him some Barry and thinks cheating is just a part of the game.

Corby probably knows more about college ball than Junior, and is much more fair. He's open about his love for OU, but is more likely to be fair about UT. And we do suck this year, so if he says so he's calling a spade a spade. But screw him, he grew up in Arlington and went to TCU, he's violating all kinds of cheering rules by being an OU fan.

I am a Day 1, P-1, lived through the years of the Ticket and our bad teams of the 90's. I will say this, I do think some of them go out of their way to jump on our lack of success this year. Even Bob Sturm yesterday started in on the reason for VY's rant and behavior is because "Texas players are coddled."

Of course, nobody has really talked about the great rookie showing of Colt McCoy! Or Jordan Shipley! Or Earl Thomas!

I do think they make a point of emphasizing anything negative about UT athletics or former UT athletes. The only UT coach they ever liked was Tom Penders!

I will say, this however....one of the funniest segments I've heard was earlier in the summer when the Big XII was in turmoil. When the idea of the Longhorn Network was discussed, they did have some funny ideas about programming. Nearly ran off the road.

I just turn off the station when they start in on the Horns. That's why I'm posting. I turned it off when Mike and Corby started talking about the "VY Situation" on "What's on Mike's Mind."

I don't think they're that hard on Texas. I've been listening off and on for about 10 years.

I think they're good at taking whatever's newsworthy and giving their own 2 cents about it. They were rough on OU during the Big Red Sports stuff. They were BEYOND rough on Baylor during the Bliss stuff.

After our national championship, all of them had nothing but great things to say about VY and our team. It goes in cycles, and we're in the bad part of the draw right now.

I only listen for Gordo, when any of them talk sports the channel gets changed. If not for Gordo you would have never heard of Craig Miller.

I do like Georgio though, you gotta love a guy who loves his school the way George loves the Mean Green!!!!

Dude, iphone with fstream app.....

Im a Day 1, P1 and since moving to New Braunfels a few years ago the smart phone with streaming keeps my P1 status intact!

When I lived in Dallas I never listened to the ticket. Always either 103.3 or the new Fox station when it started up. Man you could hear that station all the way past Waco!

I haven't noticed anything different this year as opposed to any of the previous few years. They don't talk much college football anyway, just a few segments a week. I am a Texas fan and I don't really care if the Ticket focuses on Longhorn stuff positively or negatively. I get most of my Longhorn info online anyway. The Ticket is not for everyone but I have been listening since 1995 and the main reason I own an iPhone is to stream that station.

I live in Austin and stream the Ticket through the TuneIn Radio app which is awesome because it records the stream and allows you to pause for up to 20 minutes or so. I for one am not interested in any local Austin stations.

Today was a perfect example of Craig's bias. Musers went "Around the NFL" and when mentioning KC over the Rams not one word about Bradford who completed 48% of his passes with 0 TDs and 2 INTs. Not a word. However, when discussing the Browns game in which Colt completed 76% of his passes with 2 TDs and 0 INTs with a passer rating over 132, Craig says he didn't have any turnovers but struggled to move the ball in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.

I have no problem w/ Corby, he amuses me. Regardless of his cfb alliance, he is a grade A yuckmonkey.

Mike is just a grumpy old man who doesn't know **** about football. He's like the crazy uncle at Christmas...just listen, nod politely and wait for him to doze off.

The two personalities, imo, who are the biggest beating on the little Ticket are Craig Miller and Dan McDowell. Miller brings absolutely NOTHING to any broadcast he's on. He's not remotely funny, has zero insight into anything but the most obvious and comes across as an arrogant prick. It's very frustrating to know he's made a killing being a total waste of air.

Dan is a ******* whining titty baby who needs a first class *** kicking. I REALLY want to fight him at Ticket fight night but the little ***** won't oblige.

Corby is a relatively fair-minded OU fan.

Craig Miller, on the other hand, is a typical propagandizing OU fan. Other than talking cycling, his sports talk is pretty worthless.

Rhyner bags on the Horns b/c he knows it gets a reaction. That's the sole reason....remember, he did give us major props in 2005 after beating his kid's ("I luv you daddy") USC.

But Rhyner lives for the shockfactor when it comes to college sports. He doesn't keep up with it enough to be taken seriously, like Corbells does. Speaking of which, remember Corby's trip to the CB men's room when he bumped into Blaylock's dad? Funny stuff

i don't listen to theticket for college sports. i listen for dallas pro sports (and SA Spurs and Favre talk because it's part of the gig), but i don't find their college knowledge very good at all. corby is knowledgeable about ou and tcu because of his fandom. bob is actually the most knowledgeable about college sports in general imo.

i agree that coop was the one knowledgeable guy on there who talked college sports.

i still flip back and forth depending on the time of day i'm in the car, but not if i want news about nonou non-ag college sports.

i love the ticket, just not for college stuff.

imo, the ticket has some serious competition in the afternoon. 2-7 on the fan(105.3) is Richie and Greggo. Good chemistry between these two, and Greggo appears to be off the drugs. I believe Richie is a journalist having written for the Morning News? many years ago, and that other publication currently(don't remember the name)

I flip back and forth between them and the ticket and to me they're just as good.

Seriously... I can't imagine anyone preferring the sultry tones of Galloway over the Hardline, or whatever flavor-of-the-month 105.3 throws out there. You'd have to be hard core. Like Mark Levin listeners or something.

Take the Ticket for what the Ticket is, opininons. If it was Headline News no one would listen. The only Questionable show is Bad Radio. Dan offers very little besides resetting the world as if we have never stepped foot in it. I, for one , am still a die hard and enjoy most of what Junior and Corbs have to offer. They typically call the TX/OU stuff as it is with a slight OU slant. The best is when they acknowledge the greatness as much as it hurts because it is their job.

If it was as bad as some say, it wouldn't be celebrating it's 17th anniv. today and it wouldn't have won so many awards and wouldn't have so many other shows trying to copy them.
