has there been an update anytime recently? it seems like it's been too long not to have an update. anyone know what's going on there?

I don't think so. I got some **** on my computer at work last week that neither Spybot or Ad-Aware could eliminate on re-start.

I haven't been terribly impressed with Spybot for the same reason. It does have some useful tools that make it worth keeping handy, however.

Try setting Ad-aware to do a full scan instead of the default scan. I've picked up a few extra bugs that way, and you'll notice it will scan a whole lot more objects than the default scan does. See instructions here: The Link

These forums are great for keeping up with the latest on virus related info. The Security Warnings and Updates forum, in particular, is very useful if you like to use multiple scanners. The Link

it seems to me that both spybot and ad-aware are missing a lot of stuff lately. i don't know if the malware writers are getting smarter or if they just aren't doing good updates...

maybe there are too many bullets to dodge, too many arrows to shield against, so they just gave up on making updates.

two weeks later, still no new updates for spybot.

it used to be every other day, or at least once a week. now it's been a looong time. I guess it has become worthless.

well, it IS a free product. but there's been a ton of **** that keeps cropping back up after I clean with adaware and spybot and CWSshredder, etc. It seems that the malware folks are getting smarter. I had to DL a "toolbar cop" or something like that. kept coopting my ******* google toolbar.

I heard on a local computer radio show that an update was iminent............like days away.

Keep checking.

EDIT -- Here's an article saying that 1.3 is out.

I installed 1.3 a few days ago. You can find it here

I'm not sure I like it better though. They removed the tools section that let you check settings manually and the shredder.
