I haven't been terribly impressed with Spybot for the same reason. It does have some useful tools that make it worth keeping handy, however.
Try setting Ad-aware to do a full scan instead of the default scan. I've picked up a few extra bugs that way, and you'll notice it will scan a whole lot more objects than the default scan does. See instructions here: The Link
These forums are great for keeping up with the latest on virus related info. The Security Warnings and Updates forum, in particular, is very useful if you like to use multiple scanners. The Link
it seems to me that both spybot and ad-aware are missing a lot of stuff lately. i don't know if the malware writers are getting smarter or if they just aren't doing good updates...
well, it IS a free product. but there's been a ton of **** that keeps cropping back up after I clean with adaware and spybot and CWSshredder, etc. It seems that the malware folks are getting smarter. I had to DL a "toolbar cop" or something like that. kept coopting my ******* google toolbar.
