Bingo. I wouldn't take it as a personal slight against UT, though. I think he understood that coordinators will be blamed for the head coach's mistakes. And our current and previous head coaches have made a lot of mistakes.

He's just a guy. He's a crap shoot like Strong and Herman. He doesn't have a proven record of success. He was 34-29 at Washington and 12-6 at USC before he was fired for being a drunk. He's supposed to be an offensive genius and called his own plays even as a HC. Sound familiar?

Yes, but that should have been a neon sign to our administration, and I posted it often - Strong could NOT get quality assistants to work for him because the coaching field knew he was going to fail and they would be unemployed.

I look for Sonny to be HC in Lubbock by this time next year.

Interesting quandary. If Cumbie does well as OC in Lubbock, he basically helps the current head coach retain his position.
