For Real ....Herman “IS” Done!!!

Strong was a complete fraud. Herman will do well somewhere else at least. His Cougar teams would of beaten Strong's Texas team.

Strong not only is the worst coach in the history of Texas football, but also scammed people with his values". He couldn't live them, as it turns out he was a philanderer at Louisville. He preached discipline but had the most undisciplined team in the history of Longhorn football. He kicked off the team, some of the hardest working players. Alums, Korn Ferry, and Steve Patterson bought it hook line and sinker. Red didn't .

There have been a few posts on this threat referencing "exasperated, exasperate, exasperation, etc." Shouldn't a word(s) of that caliber have it's own thread?
Asking for a friend.

Anyone heard the rumor that CDC will be making some type of statement tomorrow?

As my buddy just reiterated, Stoops wasn’t a HC until he went to OU. Dabo wasn’t a HC until Clemson hired him. Kirby wasn’t a HC until GA. And while DKR was a HC prior to Texas, his resume was unspectacular.

If the only “sure thing” is (was?) UM but at a price tag north of 30 Mil “more” than someone else, I believe that CDC should be looking around/beyond UM. And he probably is.

But Herman must go.

He needs to. If the decision is to stick with TH, then TH needs to have the public support of the AD. Period. It only damages the program to have him sit in no man's land.

Well I am somewhat surprised.
I guess CDC did not have much of a choice. Herman's contract is a huge buyout.
Recruiting will suffer.
Life, like winning, is hard.

He never really mentions 2021. This is more if a vote of confidence. Small glimmer of hope. Otherwise yes, hello 6-6, 5-7 next year.

I thought I was ambivalent on the whole thing. Didn’t like UM but I appreciated the uplift it would bring to recruiting which is sorely needed, and thought CDC would pull some rabbit out of the hat if could not get UM, but thought I could live with Herman another year if some conditions were outlined. I was wrong cause hearing Herman is staying gives me a yucky feeling in the gut. I think I was expecting a OC or DC temporary instead of a blanket Herman is staying.

CDC says:
My policy is to wait until the end of the season before evaluating and commenting on our program and coaches. With the close of the regular season, I want to reiterate that Tom Herman is our coach.

All he says is "Tom Herman IS our coach." Duh. Present tense. He doesn't say anything about next year. Considering how parsed out these things are before they are released, that's pretty meager as a vote of confidence.

I didn't really dive into this, but if that press release is all there is, CDC did NOT say TH was coming back. He just says, "I kept saying I would say something by now, the season end, so I guess I have to say something...Guess what? TH is currently our coach!"

Wouldn't he say just that even if we were still looking or in final negotiations with someone else?

I was only half listening to the TV while working on the computer, but after the end of the Utah Colorado game, the analysts said "something something something . . but hopefully the recruits will come to Texas anyway. . can't wait to see the reaction to this news in Austin." I should have been listening more closely. Anybody know what they were talking about? Is it just the announcement that Herman is still the coach?

It’s actually very carefully worded to allow him to make a change after the bowl game or after we decide not to go to a bowl.

I think this was always going to be the decision in this bizarre year we are experiencing.
And I believe the correct one.
Only a huge splash like Meyer may have changed anything.
Now Herman and his new coordinators hopefully get a full spring and summer to prepare.
No excuses. Put out or get out.
And CDC gets a season to do his due diligence and hopefully bring in the right and lasting coach this time.
Or Herman surprises everyone with a stellar 2021 season.

If Herman stays, I’m massively disappointed. True, the cost to jettison him is very high and perhaps the BMD money won’t be there unless someone like UM is available.

But if indeed Herman is our HC next year, I will have very little optimism. Aside from his incompetence as a coach, I cannot get behind someone who threw me and Longhorn Nation under the bus.

It’s a Catch-22: Apparently we cannot afford to fire him, yet a majority of fans don’t want him here, regardless of how his teams do.

I can only hope that CDC isn’t done yet.

He went on with:
Asked by Horns247 for further clarification, Del Conte said, "Tom Herman is our coach moving forward into next season."

sounds like he is here for 2021 to me.

Why would anyone buy season tickets next year - you'll be able to pick them up for $5 outside the stadium. Especially when we are on our way to 4-8...

This is going to cost much more than the buyouts would have...

Yep. It was a clear message of support. And I agree with the decision. It was the right call to see if a HOF coach like UM was available. He's not. So the smart move is to give TH another year and see what he can do.
