For once, props to Switzer

I too hope they catch the sumbitch that did this.. tie his *** to the back of a truck and drag him.

As an owner of a black lab, that is a tough story to read. I say good for Switzer.

I've owned several kinds of dogs and none even come close to the love a lab freely gives. My dog gets genuine joy from meeting any person at any time. If people looked at each other the labs look at people, this world would be a much better place. Anyone willing to commit such cruelty to such a loving creature doesn't deserve to live in a civilized society

A very good friend of mine says Barry Switzer is as awesome a person to sit and drink a few beers with as ever you will meet.

And this move by Barry sits well with me. There is a special place in hell for people who abuse animals and children.

The longer Switzer is away from the ou program and the more crap Stoops does the easier it is ti semi like Barry.

To this day I believe he really tried to create better lives for his players. Switzers choices were not great but I don't remember him sacrificing the health of a player

This story adds to making it easier to sorta say something semi nice about Barry

I am gaining a new found respect for Barry. Watched the 30 for 30 on Marcus Dupree the other night and it was kind of obvious that he was trying to give the kid some tough love that he really needed.

And now this. Agree with everyone on this thread that any person who would do this to a loving animal, and someone's pet, but especially a dog, deserves what they have coming to them.

The hell with Barry Switzer. He was an unethical, cheating
pos. I do give him props for trying to find the sorry person(s) that would do that to a dog. But there is no way to ever sing kumbaya with Barry the unethical adulterer, lying, cheater.
Zebras cant change their stripes.

Switzer is great to drink with until the conversation turns to ou and Texas. That is when the wheels come off, and you want to take him out on the spot.

Jane Fonda and Switzer were probably who killed the dog.

Well, does anybody know where they were the night the dog was killed?

I will again repeat my advice over the years: everybody should read Bootlegger's Boy, his memoir. It is the most entertaining sports memoir I ever read. As Joe Paterno said in the intro, "I don't think Barry realizes how revealing this book actually is." Or something to that effect.

Great stories abound in the book; I especially like his story about visiting his dad in the state penitentiary when Barry was in high school.

I'm not in the habit of praising Switzer either, but he deserves plenty of praise in this instance.

We've had a couple of instances here in the Metroplex area where some sorry b(deleted)tards have taped two dogs' mouths shut and turned them loose in the countryside to die.

I agree that there's a special place in hell reserved for ANYONE who abuses pets in any way...and if I see someone doing that, I will do my damnedest to send them to jail, or hell. I work with the Scottie Rescue Association up here, and will travel quite a distance to get one of the little guys out of a bad owner situation.

A pet wants only two things...to be loved, and to be cared for. If you give your pet that, the pet will love you like NO PERSON ever will. It is the ultimate violation of trust for someone to abuse a pet, and speaks volumes about a person's lack of character.

I prefer the company of my Scottie to that of ninety percent of people I know, at least. I'm no internet tough guy, but touch my dog, your dog, or anyone's...and any other pets are included as well, and if I can't get the police out in time to stop you, I'll take care of it myself.

I want anyone who abuses a pet to go straight to jail, and I want it to be particularly uncomfortable for that person when he or she gets to jail. Those people need to be made to suffer much worse than anything they inflict on a pet.

Coolhorn, I agree. My heeler and I sound like you and your Scottie. Best part of the day is sitting on the deck in the evening with my heeler.

I actually held back a good bit in my previous comment, because frankly, people who abuse animals aren't worth my getting banned from posting.

I actually think such people are at the level of what my dog leaves in the back yard that, if I'm not careful, I might step in and track into the house.
