Alas, I have hit the 1000th post here on Hornfans. Even though this number is small compared to some here, I have been on this board for years (I don't even remember when I joined) but I don't post that much.
Anywho, for my 1000th post I am announcing to my fellow Longhorn fans that I am officially going to be retiring from the US Air Force on 1 September 2014. After 22 years and 2 months, I will be an officially retired veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. I will be gaining a new job with BNSF Railroad as a conductor out of the San Antonio branch that has freight service to Temple and Eagle Pass.
My 22 years of service was absolutely the best experience in my life and I will never regret serving during that time. I have seen the world by going to every continent except for Antarctica. And believe it or not, my best time during my service has been the 4 deployments I had to OEF and OIF.
My goal is to eventually buy season tickets to Longhorn football games since I know I will be staying here in the area. I really want a degree from the University but I don't know if I will be able to obtain that goal just yet.
Not that anyone cares here on the boards about this new development of my life, but I do consider some here as friends (even if I don't directly talk you on a personal basis). I feel this way to all those here even if I don't agree with some politically, spiritually or personally. You are all Texas Longhorns and that is the kindred spirit that we all share and that is why I am letting you know this about me.
HOOK'EM HORNS and by the way...
OU SUCKS!
