Argentina and Brazil are suffering severe droughts, also need the fertilizer, and have already curtailed much of their food exports. What they have available is being sucked up by China. Australia is in even worse shape. And Ukraine? They may not even have a crop this year. And if they did, who would insure the cargo out of the Black Seas (which they no longer will have access to). Some top grain surplus nations (that produce a lot more grain and foodstuffs in general than they consume):
Canada
USA
Argentina
Brazil
Australia
Ukraine
Hmmmmm, what was that last one again…?

I eat plenty of meat. Steak is one of my favorite foods. But, if it ever comes to it, a global food shortage could be mitigated by curtailing meat consumption. As it stands now, grains, including wheat and and corn, are mostly used to feed animals for meat production.
Growing vegetables in home gardens won't feed your family. We depend on farms. Now if adding more small family farms could help. You would have to add a 100 or so, but that is an effort worth while.
Please elaborate? I’ve heard of the Great Awakening. But not this. It got Capital Letters. That's the Great Reset folks. It's all going according to plan...
In my post I'm talking about feeding my family. As I said I have plenty of space to do anything I need to do to feed my family and quite frankly my neighbors if I need to.

How many people can you feed consistently with 15 acres? My family has 4 acres.
Someone like you would be a better choice for an agriculture czar rather than the corporate shills that get appointed.I don't know, because I've never done this before. My goal would be to get me and my neighbors to do some type of co-op. My next door neighbor has 120 acres and our best friends have over 1,000. I would probably let them do the beef production.
I'd probably focus on chickens because of the quick turn around and relatively small space. I am on a running creek and have plenty of water on fertile black land to grow crops.
With 4 acres you can do a LOT. Many don't understand how much can be produced from a small garden on just a 1/4 acre. The part I struggle with is preserving it. One squash plant grew so much I had to throw stuff away because friends didn't want anymore. If I'm trying to save for year round consumption I'm not good at that.

True, but growing our own vegetables helped with the food bill and, for me, was therapeutic. Plus, we got to choose the seeds we planted.Growing vegetables in home gardens won't feed your family.
I live on a little over 1/4 of an acre in Arlington. In 2014, my wife and I decided to build a vegetable garden. I built eight container boxes and we used some planters for potatoes and herbs, etc.
Pictures are here if you are interested:
We had a lot of success with Cantaloupe (Sugar Queen), Tomatoes (Sweet 100) Lettuce (Arctic), cabbage, potatoes, and others. Not so much success with corn and watermelon. Probably needed more space.

Just getting away from the IT / Business world for a while and digging in the dirt is a good thing.
You've come a long way. Thanks Musburger1. I just realized that was my 250th post. Only took 20 years to get here.
