Foo Fighters tonight- AAC

its been a long time since I've been to a big rock concert at an arena....are the foo fighters good live? what kind of show?

The first big one since the Stones I'll go to is Radiohead this summer

Thoughts?

I thought it was a great show. Dave Grohl is just about the coolest person in music. You can tell he's just having a blast.

The acoustic set was bad ***. Walked all the way down to the other end of the arena for 4-5 songs, closing with a great version of Everlong. The old school heavy metal guitar battle was funny.

And towards the end, did Grohl say "This one's for Dime"? Could have sworn that's what he said. The camera in the back showing the setlist and Grohl asking the crowd if they want an encore was classic.

All in all, fantastic rock and roll concert.

Awesome show, one of the most all around entertaining shows ive been to.

The second stage was awesome i dont know if anyone was expecting that. They just started walking and i was like where the f are they going. then i saw the stage coming down from the celing and realized what was going on before most others did and ran and got front row at the little stage. f'in sweet.

And by the way Groehl is one of the coolest f'ers alive. He just goes all out

outside of *****, The Godfather, the 93 Cowboys, the 95 Cornhuskers, and the 05 Longhorns, it was pretty much the best thing I have ever seen

I almost rifled a beer into the back of a dudes head I was so happy.

I don't want to be your ************* monkey wrench.

by the way threesheets, you at work today? Considering we had our last shot at about 5 am, I'm kind of wondering how life is treating you today

"Amazing" doesn't go far enough. If I could I'd follow that tour cross-country. Grohl is beyond a bad-***. I don't usually go to arena shows like that, but the set-up was great.

Jive... I do think he said that about Dimebag.

BTW... what happened when he came out for the encore? I couldn't tell if he was trying to do a cartwheel or if he tripped.

he fell. I think he was trying to a cartwheel.

I love the 4 song encore.

I have never been a big fan of the song Big Me, but the way he played it last night wasn't bad.

Yeah, I think he fell because he said "watch that ramp" when the rest of the band came back onstage. At least he tried to turn it into a cartwheel.

There are front men and there are rockstars...that dude is a rockstar.

the term Golden God should be changed to Dave Grohl.

what if you woke up and realized your life's work was Nirvana and Foo Fighters

that's the rumor.

Dudes better lock up their wives that night. Led Zeppelin is in town and Dave Grohl is sitting in with them.

I first saw these guys way back in prob 97 right around the time Colour and the Shape was first out. They were playing Summerfest in Milwaukee at one of the side stages where they just had aluminum bleachers set up and the crowd was overspilling the area in a mosh/crowd surfing frenzy. A lot of people didn't know who they were, but soon there were thousands of people crammed in.

For the encore, they come out and launch into Carry on Wayward Son. Right when the first lyrics are about to start, Dave stops the band and says "I don't know the ******* words...anyone here know the ******* words....if you come up here and don't know the words, I'm gonna kick your ***". He finally pulls some stoner on stage that looks like Garth from Waynes world, and I'll be damned if he didn't do a pretty good job singing. Crowd was going nuts and you could tell it was this guys crowning acheivement in life. After the band was in the final chorus, the guy just flips the mic back to Grohl and runs off the stage and does a flip into the crowd, and the band just kept ripping it up. After that show, they have been my favorite band (current) ever since. Great musicians, great live shows, and most importantly, they don't seem to be afflicted by Rock Star Douchebag Syndrome. I recommend that anyone who hasn't seen these guys check them out.

the best is looking at Taylor when they start a real slow song. You can tell how frustrated he is at not being able to rip it up.

That would really suck to be one of the 5 or 10 best drummers in the world but to not even be the best drummer in your band.

Did one of y'all last night wear a burnt orange UT shirt with a huge Longhorn logo on the front, along with a white ball cap? Like in section 105 or 106?

I saw somebody in that gear from the other side of the ******* arena. That shirt really stuck out.

^^^^

Glad we didn't go there. I went with a few friends who live in the apartment complex right next to AAC (Jefferson at North End), and we thought about going to Victory Tavern, but figured it would be swimming with douche and very crowded. So we went to Primo's for some Mexican food and cerveza. We made the right call.

yes you did. and yes that bar is highly douchie

i decided to go to the old no. 7 bar after one drink. i may overpay and be surrounded by douchebags, but atleast I can get a drink quickly there
