fog lamps

on my 2002 TJ i had fog lamps put in a couple years ago that have since been unplugged. i cant quite remember how it was wired so, im asking you. basically, i have a switch by the steering wheel that has 3 plug ins and 3 cables that are wired into it (or were wired into it)

blue cable: this wire feeds onto a bolt on the frame of the car. obviously the ground
black cable: feeds to the lights
red cable: feeds to the fuse box where it ends with a metal plug in. this is unplugged and i cant remember where to put it in. it was obviously fed into a fuse but, it is a two prong end that has one prong broken off. since theres only one prong, could it have been fed into an existing fuse, or, should there be two prongs so that it can plug into a fuse by itself.

once the fuse is figured out, i cant recall how the 3 cables plug into the switch, but that can be figured with trial and error. thx for your help

make sure you put in on the "fused" side and not the hot side, or you will **** **** up when you try to figure out the switch.

And I can think of no reason for the switch to be grounded. It should have a hot in and a power out. Buy a 5 dollar continuity tester before you hook it up to 12 volts.

The way I was envisioning it was that the broken pronged connector would serve as an in-line fuse and should be connected to the hot side and would thus need a ground to the frame. Does that make any sense?

I guess you wouldn't be able to replace the "fuse" that way, so it probably makes no sense.

well, i put in another fuse and had it plugged into a 20A fuse for the subwoofer (which i dont have) and it blew the fuse. I think i'll get another fuse and try it in the 10A door defeat switch (which i have never used). i had it in the door switch originally and i saw the fog lamp switch light turn on, but didnt check to see if the fog lamps were on (kinda dumb i guess)
