According to sources, one option NBC is considering for Friday Night Lights is to "wrap it up" as a two-hour movie of the week. That's not nearly enough, if you ask me, but at least it's something. We're also hearing the show has already been looked at by at least a few other networks.

****!!!!

I got hooked on this show when one of the networks showed a marathon of all the shows over the Christmas holidays.

That sucks, I was just getting into this show!

Nobody watches the show. That is the thing with shows, people have to watch them. I know Pete through a couple of his movies and he thinks the end is near.

I got the last 5 or so on the DVR. The wife and I were pretty consistent, dvring and watching the next week, but we got out of the groove with all the interruptions in the season and never got back on it.

I love the show and want it to stay on the air, but quit deluding yourselves thinking 5 million (or 7) is a significant amount. For a major network it's not. If it were the show would stay on the air. Period.

Excellent post, shamewood. Where can I send a scathing e-mail to NBC?

To add to what you said:

Moving the show to Friday Night was a death knell. Helloooo? The people who watch and love FNL are doing (guess what?) on Friday nights?

Watching football, or doing other sporting-related things in the off-season. This is what we football people do. Many football people have kids who play football/baseball, etc. on Friday nights. Those of us football people who don't have kids often have other things to do on Friday nights. THAT is the target audience here. Duh. It's not just a Texas thing, either.

Hollywood may never understand this.

FNL is/was perfect on Tuesdays. There are no football games or football-related activities on Tuesday nights. Therefore, we can all get our football fix and reminisce about our high schools and small towns on this night.

Move it, promote it, it lives. Leave it where it is and it dies. This seems like simple "understand your target audience" stuff to me. (Where's my consulting fee?)

NBC did quit promoting it - could have really promoted it when FNL had new shows and everything else was either a reality show or a rerun. It's sad that people would rather watch crap reality shows that something good - lowest common denominator, etc.

what am I hating on? I love the show.

look, if they are able to keep the show on the air then all the better. All the article reinforces is that ratings were poor and they are having to get creative with keeping it on the air.
