I thought the final episode of the season was the last one in December? It didn't leave us with a cliff hanger but did resolve the legal issue with Tyra (thank heavens because that storyline SUCKED).
Now isn't the series in stasis hoping for another network to pick it up?
There are still 6 new episodes yet to air but will so beginning tonight. If the writer's strikes ends soon enough the production will resume on the final 7 episodes left this season making a total of 22.
The show's chances of returning are fairly good.
The ratings this season have been solid but not spectacular overall, however it does very well with the viewers that have the buying power (25 to 49 I think is the range). It also is one of the most viewed recorded shows on any network.
The biggest thing in the show's favor of a return is it's production cost. It cost about 1/3 to 1/2 as much to produce as other network 1 hour dramas making it quite attractive to the network.
Enjoyed the episode. Wondering where Riggins is going to go next. I'm sure the ferret/meth/crazy guy...whatever you are going to call him will make another appearance. I understand about the pranks and such, but the Laribee coach acting like a pr*ck, I didn't necessarily get. A bit unrealistic.
I just started watching this season. I got season 1 for Christmas and am catching up. Shamewood - were there a few alternate endings for the last episode that is going to air, in regards to if the strike was going to end or not?
Maybe it was just me, but I got the sense that Larabee's football players were bad guys, just not very nice people. And I kind of got the feeling that their coach was a jackass. Or was I reading too much into the storyline?
Couldn't they have gotten footage of a real tornado? Though I do have to appreciate the verisimilitude of a twister setting down in what otherwise seems like a pleasant if stormy day.
'FNL', as I understand it (and shamewood can confirm/deny) is that it's a very efficient show - one of the reasons they were able to get 15 or so eps in the can. The fact that it's efficient, cheap, and delivers good niche ratings and outperforms its competition on Friday nights should keep it in the clear. It's also a NBC/Universal show, right? If so, that's even more reason to keep it around.
Final observation: It's not really fair of Tami and her sister/daughter to hoard all the boobage. Share with the rest of the girls, like you have with Tyra and Lyla!
Mafia, same problem, just watched it online though. Good episode. I watched some of the "spotlights on Austin" and the guy that plays same Gaius something, completely changes his voice for the role, he seems to be the only one that really does that. Oh and Coach Taylor was awesome in this episode. Shame, were we supposed to get the impression that Coach was potentially drunk when playing ping pong?
Shame, I was 50/50 on the drinking or just having a good time thing. The thing that led me to the drinking conclusion was the request for the sandwich from Mrs. Coach.
The reason you had trouble recording on TWC was that KXAN originally planned to show the Spurs game that night. They eventually moved that game to their sister station but the viewing guide was never changed so your DVR did not pick it up. I went in and selected the Spurs game and adjusted the time and had no problems.
What ticks me off is that on Saturday NBC had back to back playoff games on and they showed promos for everything from American Gladiators (must have been 20 of them) to Deal or No Deal to CS "ffing"I (those shoes suck) and just about every other program they have except Friday Night Lights.
They absolutely refuse to promo this show for some reason.
You would think there would be at least one during a football game for gosh sakes.
This episode was much better than most this season. It seemed like a "back-to-roots" kind of story which is a very good thing.
Killing the murder/cover-up storyline was the best decision made on this show yet. That storyline was juvenile and contrived, and I'm delighted to see it gone. I REALLY hope it does not make a comeback of ANY kind. If it does, I'll have to drop the show for good.
I really thought it was a good episode. It was dramatic but this is a drama. I think this show has the most realistic characters on TV outside of HBO. I can't wait until next Friday's episode.
