flying sucks

so i left monday to go to indonesia. i was supposed to take lufthansa from houston to frankfurt, singapore airlines from frankfurt to singapore and then to manado.

well, the lufthansa flight decided to be delayed for 5 and 1/2 hours. there was no way that i would make my connecting flight. so i contact my travel agent and i get put on a last minute plan.

this plan was British Airways from houston to detroit to london, and then qrantus (sp?) from london to singapore and the singapore airlines to manado. of course the plan is delayed leaving houston, so when i get to london i have about 30 minutes to catch my flight. so i get escorted off the plane first, and chauffered to my plane, just to wait an extra hour on the runway to take off.

so i get to singapore with this time about 15 minutes to get to my next flight. well it didnt happen. gate was closed and i almost had to spend a night at the singapore airline. luckily i was able to get a flight from singapore to jakarta to manado with garuda, but this will add another 4 or so hours to my flight.

i am tired

Oh, manado is known it's great shopping so you should be able to get some new suits, ties, etc. (what is manado?)

For the last 10 years I have flown almost every week both domestically and internationally, accumulating 2 million AA miles, about 1.5 million Marriott points (+Sheraton, +Hyatt, etc). I could post 100's of threads talking about all the travel issues I have encoutered, do you won't get sympathy here.

Whew, now I feel much better.

This sounds like an Amazing Race episode. You didn't happen to see a ditsy blonde and her little companion trying to finagle their way onto a flight in broken English did you?

I love flying because it means I'm going somewhere. This next summer will be the second in a row I'm sitting at home. I'd accept the worst flight ever if I could get a trip in this coming summer.
