Flying into Ontario California for MNC

I thought it might be a good idea to book refundable flights into LA for the MNC game. Bought a friends Rapid Rewards tickets on Southwest leaving San Antonio. Well, turns out that other people had the same idea and all of the RR spaces available going into Burbank, the airport closest to the Rose Bowl, were booked up. Too bad, flew into Burbank for the MNC in 2005, it was great.

Had to settle for Ontario. LAX was available but I made the mistake of flying into it for the Michigan Rose Bowl, it was a nightmare.

Has anyone ever flown into Ontario? My hotel is about 2 miles from the airport. Is traffic to the Rose Bowl going to be bad?

We flew into Ontario a couple of years ago -- we were heading to Laguna, and it was much cheaper from Austin that the other airports (at the time Express Jet flew direct). The airport itself is fine, and there is really not much traffic in the area. It's a long haul to anywhere from there, though it really shouldn't be too bad because you don't have to go through downtown LA to get to Pasadena from Ontario.

Flew into there for the MNC 4 years ago and I am doing it again. Easy to get in and out and not a bad trip to the game. Just leave early to tailgate and you will be fine. Much better experience than LAX for the Michigan game.

I flew into Ontario for the Rose Bowl, LAX for the MNC, and am going to Ontario again. Get your hotel now, though - when I checked several weeks ago, anywhere near the Rose Bowl was either $300/night or $80, and the $80's didn't look too good! There are nice places in Ontario that shouldn't be too expensive.

My wife and I flew out of Ontario for the game in 05. We flew into San Fran and drove down the coast for a week, then flew out. We caught the red-eye back to Texas the morning after the game. It was a small airport and really easy to get around (we caught a shuttle from the airport - our hotel the last night was close to the airport). Of course, the lack of poeple could have been bc it was so early. The plane was nearly entirely populated with orange-wearing folks.

In short, I'd do it again based on the ease of getting around.

Hookem.

I'm glad to hear it was easy in past. I flew into Burbank for both previous Rose Bowls and it was like taking candy from a Baby!! We got awesome driving directions to West Hollywood to our hotel on Sunset the first year. didn't get on a freeway and only took about 20 minutes.....EASY. I repeated process in 05 and again EASY. So, Burbank is proven.

I have to be in Palm Springs for a meetin/convention on Friday Night, so Ontario seemed perfect choice this time. I'll fly into Ontario, drive to West Hollywood again to hotel on Tuesday. Then, wake up with a smile on my face and a National Championship on Friday and take my time driving to Palm Springs and then fly outta Ontario on Monday when my meeting is over.

I fly into Ontario for work on a regular basis. This is a very convenient airport. Not too bad of a drive to LA, but just like anything, you always want to give yourself additional time. If you are staying in the area, it is a little boring, but that is not what you are there for.

You are there to focus.

flew into ontario last championship game, easy in and out. cant remember how far from downtown la. rented a car and this was also no problem.

I'm flying in with the wife and 2 kids the day before the game and flying out the day after, so I only need to get to the game, not downtown LA. Looks like it won't be too bad.
