Fly Fishing in Santa Fe, NM

I'm heading to Santa Fe in a few weeks for a friend's wedding. I want to get away one morning and wet a line. Does anyone have any recommendations on good public water. Any honey holes you can fill me in on?

Thanks!

The Pecos is about the only place I can think of. I have a book on the subject. I'l look for it and scan and send you the pages (3-4 w/maps) if I can find it. There are most definitely some public water stretches as well as some private ones.

Found the book. There also some alpine lakes in the general area, but they don't look all that promising or require a backpacking overnight horseback trip. PM me with an e-mail address and I'll send the Pecos River info.

I just booked my guide to fish the Upper North Platte for 2 days before the UT/Wyoming Game.

You can catch all the trout you want up at Lake Katherine. It is about a 7 mile hike from the Santa Fe ski area. If you aren't up for that, you should drive to the Pecos River - which Lake Katherine feeds.
