USC men’s basketball coach Tim Floyd made a direct cash payment to a man who helped deliver O.J. Mayo to the Trojans program.......

Since he didn't hand the cash directly to Mayo, and just his AGENT (while he was still in high school??), the NCAA will probably just wipe USC's butt with a moist towelette and apologize for putting them through such difficult times.

This is very odd.

You have to question the motives of the guy providing this information. Sounds like sour grapes for being pushed out of Mayo's inner circle. Why wouldn't this new information have come out when this guy first made the allegations last year?

I am not condoning cheating, but if Floyd did this, he must be the dumbest coach ever. With the hype following Mayo for seveal years prior to his signing at USC, you would think there would have been some additional scrutiny about his recruitment and coaches recruiting him would have to be more cautious. More importantly, why would Floyd give the money to the runner himself? You would think he would have had some assistant or maybe even some booster not employed by the university actually give the money. Ever hear of plausible deniability?

Nevertheless, if he was cheating, I would love to see it exposed. I am tired of the sleazy tactics of some of these coaches that allows them to get the elite prospects. Its not fair to the coaches who play by the rules, assuming there are some that actually do (I am becoming jaded about this). I am also tired of the sleazy tactics of agents and AAU coaches who are trying to profit off of these kids. The NCAA needs to start more strictly enforcing their rules and make an example out of someone. Otherwise, change the rules and allow the players to get their fair share.

One has to wonder if the NCAA investigation questions effected Floyd's decision to decline the Arizona job. Could he have known he needs to stay at USC to monitor damage control and cover-up?
